Cleaning your ring!!

Karli, on November 7, 2019 at 11:24 AM Posted in Community Conversations 2 13
Hi all,
I wanted to open a discussion about how to keep your ring looking brilliant longer! What things do you do to keep your ring looking sharp and what steps do you take to clean them (solutions, brushes, chemicals, etc..)?
ThanksSmiley smile

I don't clean it at home aside from washing my hands. I take my ring in every 6 months to be cleaned and inspected. I make sure to take it off while doing anything where it could get overly dirty or damaged; deep cleaning, working out, hands on cooking, etc.

I use jewelry cleaner, that is safe for diamonds, at home once a week. Then, I take it to the jewelry store to be professionally cleaned every few months. I also take it off anytime I am doing dishes, showering, using harsh soaps, etc.

If I'm going to be doing something that I know could make my ring extra dirty or potentially damage it, I'll take it off. I do take it in every 6 months to be inspected and cleaned, and they said I can always stop in whenever I want in between those inspections and they'll clean it. I did buy a soft bristle toothbrush and if I'm feeling it looks not as sparkly as I want it to I'll use that with a little bit of Dawn dish soap and that seems to work just fine for me.

Thanks you guys! I've never had fine jewelry before so I'm all too familiar with tarnishing so im extra paranoid about tarnishing the ring or damaging the stone.

This is what I use too! I also take my ring off before doing pretty much anything, including washing my hands.. Dishes, cooking, cleaning, sleeping, showering, working in the field, etc..my ring is off.

I use windex! Yes believe it or not this is a big tip from jewelry stores! You must only have you ring sit in the solution for no more than 1 min. And it comes out super beautiful! My go too between visits to the jewler for cleanings every couple of months.

Same! Even though I take it off if I’m doing things where it would get dirty I’m always amazed at how much shinier it is when it comes out of this little machine!

My jeweler (who made my ring) recommended soaking it in simple green in between visits.

I take my ring back to the jeweler every six months to have them cleaned that way I know that it is is getting a good cleaning and they check my ring to make sure that my diamonds are still in place/or missing. They can fixed or replace the diamonds in my ring.

Take it regularly to get cleaned at a shop. That's the best way it stays clean and sparkling the longest. I got my engagement ring cleaned at the shop I bought my wedding band at for free. They just put it in their little machine. It still looks great a month later. I try to avoid soaps on them when I can (I know I know hard to do when washing your hands). I used to always take my engagement ring off to wash my hands but now with two idk if I will but rather avoid getting the soap right on the rings. I just don't want to risk losing them. But if you are comfortable in your workplace I don't see the problem taking them off and I might still do it. But if you go out to a bar or public restroom keep them on! I also have the at home jewelry cleaning solution where you dunk the rings in and use the little brush to brush it under warm water. I wouldn't over clean them though.

I make it a routine every Monday morning to clean my ring at home with this solution that was included with my ring 😊. I put it in and gently move it around for no more than 3min. Then I use the little brush to make sure I gently scrub off any dirt or anything stuck in it. IT'S ALWAYS SO SHINY AFTERWARDS 🤩🥰

I always take it off to shower, do dishes, cook, and workout, to make sure I don't damage it. FH doesn't want me to take it off to sleep or when I'm out because I'm always distracted and can lose it 😅Cleaning your ring!! 3
