Cleaning a tiara?

Samantha, on February 26, 2018 at 11:28 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10
I got this tiara probably 8 years ago to wear on my birthday. I recently found it again and was hoping to wear it for my wedding now but it's a bit more dingy than I first thought.

Does anyone know how I can clean it?? I have no idea what metal it's made from and I probably got it at Icing so it's no doubt on the cheaper end

Take it to a jeweler to get the metal tested (probably around $100)

If it is silver they can do a foam bath for it which can range from free to $50.

If its gold it would have to be buffed which can be around $100-?

if it's base metal there's nothing that can be done. Base metal corrodes and can't be brought back.

Sorry posted before I was done. For those prices you are better off investing in a new one

Tbh, probably cheaper to get a new one.
    I recommend

This is my go-to for bling for parties and such.

Did you try buffing it with a coconut oil cloth?

Toothpaste and an old tooth brush! Get it wet, scrub, and rinse afterwards. Blot it dry when you're done.I've used this method on all sorts of old costume jewelry over the years, it works wonders. [It works on silver too]

You just need a tarnish remover. I’m sure you can find one on amazon for cheap. If that doesn’t work I would trash it and find a new one.

Thanks y'all. I'm going to try all these cleaning methods before I decide to get rid of it for good
