Clay Pots- Wedding Favors

Mrs. McCheese, on March 16, 2010 at 1:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

Ok i need some help. I have plenty of time but I'm trying to get the little things done when I can. I have. .err rather We have decided on clay pots filled with a seed packet (customized to say thanks for coming or from Rachel and Eric) and a few things of candy and maybe a magnet or something from the wedding area (it's kinda a destination). I can not locate clay pots (not plastic that look like clay but clay pots) I will need at least 35 but if I end up having to order more I'm ok with that I would prefer not 100 though. I'm trying to find in the price range of 1.50 or less per piece. I would be ok with a little more. Any help would be great! oh and FH is hoping for natural not painted. Help!

Yes. We don't want tiny but we want it large enough for them to be able to use it for a flower or two. I would say 5.5 inches to 7 inches. I have been googling like crazy and not finding anything.

Thank you Meg! I went to that website several times and couldn't find anything but that's exactly it.

Home Depot and OSH have them and they are on sale all the time. Just wait until closer to spring, and you can usually get them 3/$5 or so. I would buy them locally, or else shipping will be immense, and you risk breakage.

You might also consider using flower bulbs, since those are planted in fall (I see your wedding is in the fall) rather than seeds, which are planted in spring. Smiley smile

Your welcome. You may also want to try a local discount store. You may be able to find them cheaper without the shipping costs.

We are doing something similar. We are having navy gable boxes with a TY seed poem on the outside. Then on the inside we are putting a seed pack, clay pot & a bookmark that reads:A book is like a garden carried in the pocket (we book luv to read!) We are making 100 of these!!!! Soooo,I have been doing my homework & checking prices on EVERYTHING! LOL!The cheapest way to go with the clay pots is Hobby Lobby(w/coupon)!Buuut,if you don't have a Hobby Lobby, try Michaels(w/coupon) or Walmart!

Thanks z&k. There is a Hobby Lobby near us (1.5 hour drive or so). I'll have to check them out. I didn't even think about Michaels or Walmart.

In my area the terracotta pots are out in force. Home Improvement stores or Walmart have them.

OMG! I saw you were getting married at Bluff Mountain! We are going to the Smokies this May to check out Chapel in the Park! We might be checking out Bluff Mountain too!Because of FH's beloved Air Force,we STILL don't know if we want a smaller ceremony/reception down in the mountains, with a larger reception up here in Ohio.Or to have everything down in Tenn or everything here in Ohio!We have to wait on the Air Force!LOL!

    Did you tour Bluff Mountain???

Terracotta pots are at Home Depot, and sometimes even on sale at Michaels depending on the season.

I do inventory and price changes for home depot and one of my depts is garden.. the price should be going down soon and if you find the ones you want there but they don't have as many as you need go to special service desk and do a will call on them.. you pay for them first but you are able to get the quantity that you need as well.. Good luck.. cute idea Smiley smile)

Z&k- yes we toured it & fell in love with it. We had planned on touring Honeysuckle Hills and one other but Bluff Mountain offered more for the price and Rik the photographer is amazing. Another reason we picked there was because of him. We wanted a great photographer and his work is amazing. We actually met with him because we got there early and his wife, Rhonda (the planner was busy giving a tour to another couple). We met with her after he gave us the tour. It's beautiful. After we decided on them we went back for a sampling of the food. YUM! The location is so gorgeous. I'm not sure about the place you mentioned. I wanted a place that wasn't one of the typical kinds you see in Gatlinburg. There is a chapel at Bluff Mountain made to look like one in Cades Cove. That's kinda what sealed the deal for me. Sorry I can't say enough good things about that place. Rhonda isn't always the quickest with getting back to me but since my wedding is months away I'm not too worried..yet.

Malinda- thanks for the info. I appreciate it. I'll be stopping by this weekend to check them out. There are two Home Depots where I live so hopefully between the two I will find the amount I need.

I sometimes forget I can buy things local instead of the shipping them.

    Thanks everyone!
