Classical Piano Wedding Ceremony

Private User, on April 30, 2014 at 3:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

Has anyone else done or is planning on playing classical music at the ceremony? I want to have classical music, but I'm having trouble finding music that I like. Do you have any suggestions for music you'd like to share?

Thank you!

I'm having classical music at our wedding ceremony. I have a friend who plays piano and will be our musician.

I'm walking down the aisle to Jim Brickman's Beauty and the Beast. Try looking up his work.

Fur Elise is also a favourite of mine, but we don't have room to use it.

I have the same dilemma, the pianist wants a list of what I want played and I don't really have a clue besides cannon in D

I'm with you all, too! I wish the Wedding Wire list of music could be filtered by style. Sure, there are some classical pieces mixed in, but I don't want to go through every page of suggested songs.

I spent a few hours on YouTube just looking up "wedding piano" and "beautiful classical piano" to try and find examples. I did get a short list from the pianist of popular wedding songs, but a lot of them are overdone (or some are traditionally played on an organ).

I know a lot of people like some of the piano pieces from one of the latest Pride & Prejudice movies, and there are versions of "Here Comes the Bride" that are slower and more toned down. I'm still looking quite a bit and will be asking my parents for some of their favorites. May also have her play some hymns that we aren't singing along to but are good melodies.

    Good luck!

Classical piano music I have played at weddings:

Harmony of the Angels, Friedrich Burgmuller

Song of India (from the opera Sadko), Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov

    Chanson, Nancy Faber

Prelude in C Major, J.S. Bach

    Pachelbel Canon, Johann Pachelbel

    Liebestraum, Franz Liszt

Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, J.S. Bach

Hope that's helpful! Classical piano is a lovely choice for a wedding.
