Classic rock songs from 60's, 70's, and 80's for Father/daughter dance..

Katie, on September 3, 2019 at 12:34 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12

My wedding is in 10 days, and I am picking music to send to our DJ, and I am at a complete loss for a good song for the Father/Daughter dance. My dad LOVES classic rock (especially from the 80's hairband era- because he thinks he's still in that era. LOL) I would love to pick a song that he would really love. Please help! Smiley smile

SAME! That's the song I've chosen for our Father/Daughter dance. We've got home videos of Dad dancing with me when I was like 5 to that song and I learned to play it on piano for his birthday when I was 11. We both love it Smiley heart

That's so cute! I was considering it but ultimately chose La Vie en Rose by Edith Piaf. My dad's side of the family is French and this is a fan favorite with them. Also, my late grandmother was an opera singer in Paris and this was one of her favorite songs; just something to keep her close on my wedding day.

I'm doing Landslide by Fleetwood Mac. Much more soulful than the Dixie Chicks version.

I saw someone recommend In My Life by The Beatles and thought it was a great song for a father/daughter dance. I also like Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper.

HANDS DOWN "Sweet Child of Mine" by Guns n Roses. My dad is a huge fan like yours is, and he even had Guns n Roses at his own wedding.

This one is a winner for me! Much prefer it over the Clapton song (and Clapton is easily one of my favorite artists of all time) ever since someone mentioned to me that it's "a story about a guy who gets drunk and his wife has to take care of him and how is that romantic, that jerk!" And you know how sometimes you hear something and then it just sticks in your brain whether or not you agree?! Anyway....I like the Fleetwood Mac suggestion.

We're also a big classic rock family, and my song with my dad was from the Allman Brothers (Melissa...yep, I was named after a song) so I can't use that suggestion lol. But some other ideas: "In My Life" from the Beatles, "When You Need Me" from Springsteen, "I'll Stand By You" from The Pretenders, "May You Never" from Clapton.
