City hall x traditional ceremony and reception

Erika, on April 11, 2020 at 7:35 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 2
Hi everyone!!
FH and I met while I was living in the US and be proposed close to our 2y anniversary. We decided it’s be better for us if I came back to my country to get a k1 visa so we can get married but the thing is we’ll only have 90 days to get married when I come back but FH wants a big wedding with ceremony and reception. How should we do that? Is it ok if we get legally married and then have a vow renewal? His cousin is a priest and would do the ceremony for us but we’re still kinda lost

TIA

I think it is more than ok to go ahead and get legally married then plan a big wedding. You don’t have to tell anyone that you’re already married. In fact, we’ve planned a large wedding but if I end up losing my job (due to COVID-19) we will just get married at the JP and wouldn’t tell anyone. Best of luck to you!

We got legally married so we could apply for my resident visa in the UK and then later had a ceremony and reception in the US. Our friends and family understood that this was what worked best for our situation. The most important thing is that you and your fiancé agree and go with the option that works for you both.
