Cinnabons for wedding cake

Linnea & Jose, on January 13, 2017 at 9:57 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

I'm helping my friend plan her wedding, she wants to host in Lemont, Illinois. we're trying to find something similar to a cupcake tiered cake but with cinnamon rolls. Any suggestions? Could your average bakery do this?

Well, I don't care for cinnamon rolls, so I don't get it. Buy a wedding cake, give everyone a piece, and if cinnabons are that wonderful, serve them on a dessert table. Wedding guests expect a cake cutting. That's my best advice.

This is a new trend I've been noticing. Donut cakes, cinnamon roll cakes, literal cheese cakes,

People want cake, but you can always offer both. A good enough bakery can make small ones to serve with a sheet cake.

What CP said (minus the part about not liking cinnamon rolls...I could eat my weight in them).

Cinnabons are delicious, when they are warm and gooey. But that goes away when theyve been sitting on cake trays for any longer than 15mins.

What beachdreams said. Cinnamon rolls are only good warm. They will be baked the day ( or two) before and sit out all day. I don't recommend.

What BeachDreams and Melissa said -- Cinnabons, frankly any cinnamon rolls in general, are delicious and I personally love them way more than cake.

However. Cinnamon rolls lose their appeal once they've been sitting out for 20+ minutes.

Unless you're having a tiny wedding where you know all the guests would prefer that, I'd just do a regular cake, or at least a sheet cake, and serve them, or something like donuts, on the side as an addition.

Cutting corners are starting to sound ridiculous now! Just buy a cake and call it a day! Just like at a birthday party, at weddings people expect cake.

Personally, I LOVE cinnamon rolls (and I'm craving one now after reading this post), but as others have mentioned, they're only delicious when they're hot and fresh. A cinnamon roll that's been sitting out for more than 20 minutes is just sad.

I'd tell your friend to make it easier on herself and get a cake, cupcakes, mini desserts from a bakery, or some sort of combination of those three.

I agree that cinnamon buns are the bomb dot com, but I agree with PP's that when they're not fresh out of the oven, they're not as good.

Maybe a good compromise would be a cinnamon flavored cake? I know I've seen cinnamon bun cake in a box, so I'm sure a bakery could do it.

@DeNigris YES! I'd be all over a cinnamon bun cake. That sounds amazing.

All this stuff (donuts, rolls, pie-ettes.....they all suck after sitting out for any period of time.

    Cake.

@lollipop I don't think this is necessarily cutting corners, maybe they just have a preference for cinnamon rolls. Chances are a cinnamon roll cake would be similar in pricing to cake (maybe I'm wrong??)

I wouldn't have even thought about the fact that the cinnamon rolls being baked a few days before hand and not being warm. I would advise your friend to have cake available to the guests who would like it, and then have a cake 'spin off' of cinnamon rolls or donuts or whatever she wants. That way she's satisfied, but so are the guests who are looking for cake.

    ETA: totally love @denigris's idea

YUM! Even though I do kind of agree with the whole "cinnamon rolls best served warm" thing, I wonder if you could do like cinnamon role flavor cupcakes; that is, if you could not make the Cinnabon idea work? Good luck though! I bet it'll turn all turn out great!
