Cigar Table

Annemarie, on September 25, 2015 at 9:46 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

What are your all's thoughts on cigars for the men as favors? My FH and his family love to enjoy cigars after dinner at family get togethers, and I thought it would be nice to include that on our day. Does anyone have experience with this?

My fiancé owns 2 Smoke Shops in Brooklyn so we'll be having cigars out for the fellahs. Not as favors for each guest however. Not sure how we are going to display them ?

A lot of the guys at our wedding brought cigars to smoke on the patio, however, not everyone enjoys cigars so I would include something else as well.

At a wedding my FH was a GM in, the groom's dad brought out nice cigars for the groomsmen near the end of the reception. All of the guys loved it! It could be an expensive favor, but still very cool!

I think its a great idea.

See if a smoke shop will give you a "bulk" deal! Some places might be willing to work with you since its for a wedding.

Cigars would go over great in our group too. In fact, its what FH is doing for his groomsmen: A nice beer glass and a good cigar! Smiley laugh

My FH is a cigar enthusiast so we may (if FH can sqeeze it in the budget) be having someone from a local cigar shop to hand roll cigars for guest. The shop sends two guys for two hours (which I thought an hour would be fine, but they have to make worth the money I guess) and one guy hand rolls cigars while the other explains the cigar making process, where the stuff comes from, how its grown, etc. Its very interesting and while I am sure ppl will love to see this I don't think we should have to pay for the two hour minimum. You actually don't pay for the guys you pay per cigar that's taken by guest during that time. Which is crazy bc how can we control the cost. The shop owner says its usually about $1000!!!! Which is why its a MAYBE. If not we will just have a box of cigars and lighters outside on a table with a sign. FH & his friends do this at every event (birthday, bbq, shower) which is why he wants something more special for the wedding. But I wouldn't make it a favor, bc not everyone likes cigars or smokes. But you can call it whatever since many couples skip favors.

Thanks everyone!.. That is a good idea not making it a "favor" and just having it out for everyone, or perhaps groomsman gifts!

We were going to but wanted people to be on the dance floor, not outside so we opted against it.

I was on the fence with this as well. Was thinking of surprising FH with the hand rolled cigars as well. I opted against it since we are only having 50-55 guests and if 1/2 leave for the cigars it will take away from the dancing.

At the last wedding I was in, there was an outdoor area with fire pits - there were s'mores bars and 'cigar bars' set up in various stations for people to enjoy. I actually completely forgot about the whole set up because I was dancing up a storm inside (lol), but people LOVED it - especially if you're not a big dancer, it's a great alternative!
