Cigar Roller??

MrsCrash110, on May 10, 2018 at 11:42 AM Posted in Planning 0 29
My fiance loves smoking a cigar to relax and when we travel. I absolutely love it! The smell reminds me of being around my grandpa. We have been tossing around the idea of having a professional cigar roller during cocktail hour. What do y'all think? It's an indoor & outdoor event and we will also be having a bonfire.

Most of my friends and family would love it but I know some people that really wouldn't. I think this is a know your crowd kind of issue, but if you think more of your guests like the smell of cigar smoke than don't then I would absolutely do it. Sounds super cool and unique IMO.

I love the idea of them! I was going to surprise my Fiancé and get one for our wedding .. but he’s made it a point to tell me how he’s very specific with his cigars so he probably wouldn’t smoke any rolled by one .. but I say if you think your fiancé / guests would enjoy it and it’s in your budget definitely go for it!

I would just say to be mindful so that everyone doesn't have to smell it. I think cigar smoke smells horrible. I understand that many like it and that is great. I just think you should be mindful so that everyone isn't stuck having to smell it all night long.

Thanks ladies!! Our event space has multiple outdoor gathering areas (bonfire, drink tables, fountain garden, porch, etc) so the smoke wouldn't be a problem Smiley winking

This is what I would have to think about. One person could ruin the whole event for me and I would have a migraine or allergies go insane and I would leave.

Personally, if you did this, I would have a smoking area. Make it known if they want to smoke the cigars, they need to go to that spot.

I'd ask your venue, to make sure they allow it! I love this, we are considering doing it. The groom's suite at our venue has a cigar lounge attached and that made my fiance so excited. He's actually gifting nice cigars to each of his groomsmen, I think it'll make for cool pictures too!

Very cool idea! We’re torn between this or just setting up our own area with different cigars FH loves, lighter, cutter, etc.

I went to a wedding that had one and it was a huge hit. The problem was, it was such a huge hit that everyone wound up outside and no one was on the dance floor for 1-2 hours during the reception. I know you said cocktail hour, but this could linger into the reception and people may be finishing their cigars during intros, toasts, etc. Not discouraging it if it's what you want, just something to think about.

I love the idea, I really wanted to have one but I couldn't find anyone in our area! I think we are putting a jar out at the bar with some cigars in it for people to enjoy if they'd like! We are also having an indoor/outdoor reception space so there is plenty of room for people who do or don't like it.

FMIL hates the idea of cigars at the wedding, but I have family and friends who'd appreciate a cigar so we think its a great idea. FH and I also go out from time to time to a local brewery and get free cigars with our beers and will occasionally smoke them, though we aren't avid smokers at all.

I was going to mention that I heard something like that too.

And, as PP have said, I'd make sure that they stick to a designated area, especially if there will be kids there too. Cigar smoke is sometimes a migraine trigger for me, so I would need to stay far, far away.

But, it seems to be a thing that a lot of people like too.

Even an outside event you can smell smoke. Anyone that has a trigger to smoke can smell it and have a reaction. That's why having a spot where the smokers can go is a good idea.

I love this idea! We are doing a cigar bar for our daughter's wedding. It's a gift from my DH to our FSIL. The venue has 2 separate patios one of which is located off a bar that is separate from the reception area. We plan to use that one for the cigars. We will just have humidors with various cigars available to anyone who would like to partake. A live roller sounds absolutely awesome and would be a lot fun Smiley smile

So would cigars be allowed at All of those areas? That really puts them off limits to those who cant be around or hate cigar smell. I would limit it to one area.
