Cigar Roller

Casey, on August 12, 2020 at 12:41 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8

Did anyone have a cigar roller at your wedding or know someone who did? I'm considering it as a surprise for my FH but was wondering if it went over well with guests and about how much it costs.

I personally am not having one. However, I went to a wedding about 10 years ago that had one. It went over really well with the men! The guy stayed busy all night. It was a very high end black tie wedding though, so I think it was definitely the right crowd for it

I think it would be a good idea if you are having a very fancy black tie event. With COVID I don't know if it is the best idea to have people smoking around everyone. But I do think it is pretty cool. I have seen one at a bridal show once and it was neat and definitely engaging!

Had a friend look into it and she said it was way more expensive than she thought it’d be. My husband has stood up in quite a few weddings and has gotten a cigar as a gift from the groom or best man in almost every wedding. Depending upon where you live, smoking isn’t allowed on or near premise in certain places (like the city I live in) so know that people may need to wait and take them home before they can smoke the cigars.

My FH wants cigars at the wedding but we're not having a cigar roller. We will have a cigar bar on the back balcony of our venue. We're going to bring a humidor and provide all the cigars and accessories. We plan to make it available later in the evening once dinner and all the formalities are over and the real party begins.

I’m having one... that was one of FH requests.... and I know the guys and some of the ladies will enjoy it.
And we’re having outdoor heaters to make it more comfortable for our guests since I’m having a winter wedding.... it’s an additional 1k.

I've been to one wedding that had a cigar roller and one that had pre-rolled cigars available. At the one with the cigar rolling station, the station itself was pretty cool, but it was annoying that it was there because it took up space in a cocktail hour room where space was extremely limited and it would've been nicer to use that money on an open bar or something that would've appealed to more of their guests. At the one with the pre-rolled cigars, it also seemed like a fun celebratory thing, but the whole wedding was outside so the people smoking outside of the tent got smoke into the tent which was rather unpleasant.

TLDR: if you can afford to have it, a cigar rolling station can be a fun addition to your wedding. If you can't afford it, don't cut something for everyone to make something fun for a few people. If you let people smoke, make sure the smoke is self-contained.

Thanks all. I'm starting to lean towards not doing it. My FH, father, and others would really like it but despite our reception being outdoors if the smoke did linger to where people were sitting I know certain people that would be very upset about it.

I like the idea of having various cigars there on a table but not a cigar roller. just because it might take long but the idea is so unique though!
