I recently moved out of state to close the distance with my fiance. We finally found a church we want the wedding at. It's perfect. But what hasn't been perfect is dealing with the church. We went in to ask about the wedding process. The secretary asked us if it was our first time getting married, if it was a group or individual wedding and then fumbled around for quite awhile before being able to find the correct paperwork. It was like he's never been asked about a wedding before.
The packet said to gather all church documents like baptism certificates beforehand. I got mine mailed in from out of state as fast as possible. Once we had them we called to schedule a meeting with the priest. The secretary again asked us all the same questions. He said he would relay the info and a priest would call us. No one ever called after over a week, so we called again. He didn't remember us at all and asked all the same questions. He asked who took our info before. We said alright, can we just have the priest's contact info and contact him ourselves? The priest contact info isn't online ANYWHERE or in the bulletin, not publicized anywhere, which I find sketchy. He gave us the secretary email. It's been a few days and still no response.
I am getting quite upset. I can't plan anything until we have the date. A month has already gone down the drain. I plan on going into the office after church this weekend. But what should I say?! I feel like this guy just doesn't want to help. I just want the priest's information so I can deal with it myself. How can I press him for the information? I feel like he has no right to deny me.
I'm having a ceremony back in my home state as well and dealing with that church was also a nightmare. It took 2 months to get a meeting with the priest and I was very dissatisfied with the meeting itself. People wonder why so few people get married in the church anymore...they're extremely unaccommodating.
Any advice? Thank you!
