So for the reception the current plan is to have the venue do the food because the venue has their own kitchen and chef and their per person estimate isn't too expensive. We'll be providing the alcohol (haven't decided exactly what/how much just yet). I have done pretty much no planning so far for the church ceremony half of the wedding beyond booking the venue but my fiance has started doing a little research on which readings he wants and which priest he wants to officiate.

The factor that adds your wedding budget the most is definitely your guest list. Having a large guest list means more money spent on food, drinks, rentals, favors, etc. Have you considered having a small guest list?
