Christmas Gifts for Fiance?

Courtney, on November 26, 2019 at 5:30 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 16
It's that time of year again and once again I'm completely stumped. FH wants a food saver of all things....something we could put on registry, but this is the only thing he has asked for. I want to get him something that he won't know about.

This is our fourth Christmas. I've gotten him a watch, a wallet, cologne.... it seems like everything has already been done. Do you ladies have any ideas?
Also, not trying to spend a lot of money with wedding planning and purchases.

My husband has a specific coffee brand he likes but he always make too much and because it's kinda pricey I'm getting him a monthly subscription in the k-cups so he can make one cup at a time, and doesn't waste it, and it will just charge to my CC every month so he won't be the one to pay for it. I'm also getting him a multi use electric razor he's been wanting but won't buy.

I'm doing a pocket knife with his initials engraved on it. Also he's been talking about wanting to meal prep so I'm getting him the meal prep containers.

Can you agree to not buy each other gifts and instead spend the money to do something fun together? That's what my husband I decided to do years ago and have kept it up. We LOVE this strategy.

We also opted out of all other family and friend gift exchanges, but that is a separate topic.

Yes that would be fine with me. I might need to talk to him about that. I've actually already bought us tickets to go and see Reba in concert on May 1st next year which is actually our "dating" anniversary.
We draw names for all of our family members now. It gets too expensive.

I got my husband a FoodSaver years ago in college. He loves it. He still uses it and it has saved us a ton of money by not wasting food. With Black Friday coming it shouldn't be too expensive, Costco has a nice bundle pack usually. Getting my husband to tell me what he wants for the holidays is usually a struggle.

I was planning to get my husband a leather wallet that can get my handwriting engraved on it. During my vows I was so nervous I missed a couple of my most heartfelt lines so I wanted to engrave that in there.

... But now we are broke because we just bought a house so we said let's not get gifts this year for each other aha so that'll maybe be more of an anniversary idea for gifts I will keep in mind

If he's said he wants a food saver, I would go ahead and get him one! They can really come in handy

Yeah but I hate for him to know what he is getting. Would like to find something else to surprise him with.

I got my FH slippers from LL Bean last year that he loved, and I always make him up a stocking with little fun things.

This year, I'm thinking of getting him a gym or toiletry bag; a frame & photo for his work desk (we just got our engagement pictures back recently); a Catana Comics daily calendar, and possibly some sweaters or flannels.

In previous years, I've gotten him duffel bags, cologne, stuff for his car, books, etc. Usually pretty practical stuff. Smiley smile We're trying to limit the $ amount this year so that the extra can go towards the wedding.

I have NO CLUE what to get H this year. We got most of the stuff on our registry, so that limits the amount of things we both want or need. He doesn’t wear cologne (not allowed at work), doesn’t need a new wallet...I am loathe to buy him video games but I may just have to resort to that. Still looking for ideas.

My FH asked for a Roomba for his birthday last year, so I get the frustration. I think the best Christmas gift I’ve gotten him is an oversized beer mug with his initials monogrammed on it. He had really wanted one and was looking for one every time we went somewhere and the customized one is so special! But the problem is, that was such a fantastic, thoughtful gift, that I feel that I need to match or top it for every occasion! Try to think of something meaningful, even if it’s not a typical gift!

This is super stereotypical, but does your FH like sports? If he does a ticket to a game might be great!

I got my husband 2 nice gifts and some other little ones of thing he’ll use and need. I got him one of those blackhead electrical machine, a set of hot sauce - it would probably be his favorite present. I also got him one of those beer apron that you put in the mirror to avoid mess when shaving. Little things like that are always great and not expensive.

Hmm we love our food saver. But I get What you’re saying that you’d like to surprise him with something he doesn’t know about. It is a little pricey but there could be some deals this coming weekend - a sous vide! If you both enjoy cooking now I can’t recommend owning one enough. We bought one as a gift for a family member last year and got a great cyber deal on it. We love ours.
Other ideas could be coffee, engraved knife or glassware, something to go with a hobby/sport (like bicycle accessories)

He has been talking about that and a meat grinder so I ordered both last night on Amazon. He tells me today he ordered him a meat grinder the other night so I'm pretty upset about that. I thought I was doing good. I am completely lost with him this year. I guess that's the downfall of being together 4 years and 4 Christmases.
