They might have some suggestions here: http://catholicweddinghelp.com/index.htm

If you talk to someone at the church (secretary, music director, or priest), they should be able to give you some suggestions too.

Talk to the church and see if they can help you at all. Also google christian music for weddings and see if anything comes up.

First of all congratulations. Secondly, there are a number of christian wedding sites that have multiple suggestions for how to do a christian wedding. Even on youtube there are some wonderful contemporary christian wedding songs. There is a couple named Phil and Brenda Nichols who have an entire wedding album with christian wedding songs.

    Hope this helps.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Be prepared to play it for whomever you have to with the words written out. Alot of times it is the words to songs that is the objection. I'm a much older bride and can tell you that sometimes one wonders why people want to get married in church with some of the suggestions for songs or presentation of their wedding party. Sure everyone is entitled to their own ideas and opinions but when you want to have a mainstream church as part of your celebration of the institution of marriage you need to follow fairly conventional ideas.

I am not familiar with the song you are asking about but if you love it you'll find a way to fit it into your day een if it has to be at the reception as your first dance.

    Cood luck.

Does your church have musicians...I know all the church's I've gone to they have had music ministers who can give you some suggestions. We are getting married in a catholic church and got great suggestions from a person who sings in many church weddings...

I'm including the list with some youtube links so you can listen to the song (my musician provided this for me and it was really helpful!)...It's really long.

    Prelude/candle lighting:

    Time for Joy

    Where There Is Love

    Household of Faith (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K03ORzv3Jpg&feature=related)

Grow Old with Me (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPBAtXCM3AI )

    I will be here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xFTRbM6NsA&feature=related )

Only God could love you more (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbNTYLfB6xQ )

The Wedding Song (there is love)

    Seating parents/grandparents:

The Father Says I Do (loved it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLwJKafo2vI)

    A Parent’s Prayer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMi4b0abidI&NR=1)

    Processional:

    Jesu, Joy of man's Desiring

    Canon in D

    Trumpet Voluntary

    Trumpet Tune

Alleluia: Celtic Alleluia (really you coud use anyone..but this one is the most peppy one I have found)

If you want the scripture respose sung, I sang one in October called ':Let us bless the Lord togetyher" Psalm 34. My friend Joanne's brother composed it, it's stinking gorgeous!

    Unity candle:

    We Have Love

    Whereever you go

    Communion:

    How Beautiful (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJfSp_rceFs&feature=related)

    In this very room

Any regular communion song will work too . Some we like here are

Song of the Body of Christ

    One Bread, One body

    Taste and See

    You are mine

I will raise you up (umm I think that is the name, I need to double check)

    Mary Devotional: Ave Maria

    Haily Mary, Gentle Woman

    Recessional:

    Trumpet Voluntary

    Hornpipe

    Alleluia by MOzart

    Joy

I hope that helps...and again we are Catholic so some of the music is "catholic"

Try Smokie Norful, too. We were going with just christian music. One of FH's fav. gospel songs is Total Praise by Richard Smallwood. We were going to use that for the wedding party procession. We are still working on our music choices.

I'm not sure what genre of christian music you're looking for. I have a compilation cd of christian wedding songs called "With This Ring Forever I Do". There's also another called "With This Ring". If you go on Amazon.com, you can listen to samples of the songs. They're short but it gives you an idea of the flavor of the songs.

Also as has been previously stated, a church is a place of worship and should always be treated as such. Depending on how liberal the church/pastor are, you MIGHT get a pass on I Am Ready for Love. But you do need to provide a cd along with the lyrics of the song if you're going to request an exception. That is safer than something like Jagged Edge's "Let's Get Married".

Hi...when I was planning my wedding, I had a variety of songs, both Christian & secular...however, a few of my favorites are:

Steven Curtis Chapman - I will be here. He's a Contemporary Christian Singer.

Paul Stookey - The Wedding Song (There is love) ... Sooo beautiful!

If your Church will allow Classical music, Pachelbel's Canon in D is beautiful!

Also, if you can find either someone to sing it or a recording of it, The Lord's Prayer in song is awesome! (Check out on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIh2gnlHP-U...

it's Andrea Bocelli's version, he's an Italian tenor ... he is sooo gifted, it's incredible!!!

Due to problems with my family, my husband and I opted to just elope, so we weren't able to put my dream songs to use...Hopefully you'll find some of these suggestions useful (& who knows, maybe someday we'll renew our vows & get a chance to use them then!) Smiley smile Most are available on youtube if you want to check them out. Congrats & good luck!

Thank you all for your suggestions. I have found a cd with gospel artist covering some pretty interesting songs. I heard Here and Now and at first I thought it was Luther but it was The Williams Brothers and Juanita Bynum. I tried to listen to see if the words were changed but I haven't heard any differences. I wonder how that will go over with the church?!

    Hi,

Congrats on the wedding! My classical trio has played 100s of Christian weddings. Are you getting married in the NY tri-state area?

    Best,

    Andrew

Check out coffey anderson. hes amazing. hes not really that big yet, but hes a christian singer, and hes really good. kinda r&b, with some acoustics on there. hes got an amazing voice. im using his song, "better today" as our first dance song. and another song of his, "you gave me you" was our second choice! hes really really good. also, look up steven curtis chapman, kutless, mary mary(who do a song with beyonce on one of their cd's), plumb, stacie orrico... too tired. cant think of any more. these are all contemporary christian artists though. nothing gospel or fancy like that. more like what youd hear on z100 without any bad language, and talking about God instead of inapproproate stuff. oh, and try casting crowns, lifehouse, and switchfoot!

Some Christian store allow you to listen to the music before you buy it. Do you have a Mardel's near by?
