Choreographed Father/Daughter Dance

Lala, on August 7, 2016 at 2:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

My mom really wants my dad and I to do a father/daughter dance where we actually do something other than sway for 5 minutes. I'm pretty indifferent and have no preference other than not playing a sappy song that will cause everyone in the room to cry. I'm receptive to doing something like a swing dance routine.

Talking to my fiance, he and his mom plan on just doing the standing and swaying during their Mother/Son dance. Would it be inappropriate for me and my dad to do something choreographed that may steal some spotlight? I worry that his mom might get upset because it seems like something she'd love to do with her son, but he's too introverted and shy for that sort of thing.

If you and your dad are comfortable doing a choreographed dance then you should do it. Maybe it's something she wanted to do but if your FH doesn't want to then she should honor that and be fine with the special dance you and your dad want to do.

I've been to weddings where one pair does a choreographed dance and the other does the basic one. I don't think it matters. To be honest no one even really cares about these.

I don't think it matters, (because frankly, people don't pay that much attention to them). If you want to do it, do it. Personally, over choreographed dances make me cringe.

Yeah, my fiance already requested that his Mother/Son dance be cut halfway through the song. If I do a dance, I'm going to ask the DJ to do the same. My mom will probably be livid, but I feel like people will start getting bored after the first minute, no matter how awesome the dance is (which it won't be).
