Chinese food buffet for reception?

Has anyone ever done a Chinese food buffet for the reception or seen it at one they attended? I put in a request for a quote from our favorite restaurant for catering but was curious if there was a reason this wasn't a popular choice?

This sounds great! But you do have to know your crowd on this one, like PP have mentioned.

I do NOT like Chinese food in any way, shape or form. I would go home hungry if that were my only option.

I would LOVE this if it were me. However, I agree about the allergies. FH is allergic to MSG and we can only order from certain chinese food places because of it. Just check with the restaurant.

    Thank you for the feedback!

I know of a few nice, authentic places that I am going to get quotes from (keeping in mind all allergies that you guys mentioned).

In terms of creative alternatives? I'm thinking just grilled veggies and baked chicken? What would people who would be opposed to Chinese food prefer that would mesh well with the other offerings?

I haven't seen it but I would love it, if it was really good Chinese!! I'd prefer it over BBQ or mediocre banquet food!

@Rachel - If I do that lazy susan idea I could save money for not having centerpieces!

I think it's hard because there are so many options, and the food can sometimes be heavy. It sounds like it would be really fun and different though.

Remember soy is gluten! So if you have gluten free guests make sure there's something for them!

I love love love Chinese food but I don't think it's wedding food. Chinese food just screams comfort cheap food to me.
