Children under 3 and escort cards

Theresa, on May 29, 2017 at 11:19 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

My fiancés cousin, her bf and their two kids (both under the age of 3) are all invited to our wedding, question do their kids get their own escort cards? Or do I just put their names onto their mothers card?

These are just the place cards they pick up at the entrance of the reception that tells them what table to go sit at.

Forgot to mention, if children are getting their own chair they would def need a place card :-) so i guess it just depends on that!

I think a place card for each seat or highchair. You certainly can group the cards together with one of their parents, so they are easy to find on the escort card table.

Theresa, I have experienced both. I never put much thought into it really to be honest with you. For our own wedding we are doing assigned tables rather than assigned seats so I am just assigning by families.

Sara they are sharing plates? Do they get their own chairs at least? Is it a plated meal or a buffet? I have never been to a wedding where I have had to share a plate with my kids before. Granted the under two set doesn't eat a lot but still....

For babies & toddlers, I would ask the parents for their preference (no chair/space for stroller, highchair, chair or no chair/on lap all night...eek).

For the meals, ask your caterer if children meals are available & how they handle those (ages, etc).

    I agree with Ambrok.

I have several babies/toddlers coming and spoke to the parents ahead of time on who needed booster seats, highchairs, lap seating (no thank you), who was going to be using a sling etc. At tables with multiple babies (twins) I sat less people so there was more room for diaper bags, etc. The parents will know what will work best for them. My catering company is not charging me for kids under 3, and for kids 12 and under its 50% of the adult price, but the meals are the same.
