Children roles in wedding

c1234, on April 12, 2010 at 8:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

I'm looking for creative ways to include kids in a wedding. I know the traditional way is to have them be part of the ceremony as a FG/RB... are there any other roles that might be appropriate? The kids are still young - around 5-6.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have heard of several people having all their ushers be children. Way cute!! Depending on how many there are, you can have them man the guest book as people walk into the reception. You can also have them lead the buffet line (if you're doing a buffet) for each table.

They can hand out programs or cry packets.

I have 6 cousins i have to figure something out for so we are having one as a ring bearer the oldest which is 17 as an usher the 2- 7 yr olds handing out programs and the 9 year manning the guest book table...maybe you could do something like that!

Thanks ladies.... I think my best bet might be the manning the guest book or handing out programs idea, but I'm not sure if they will have the stamina to stand and stick to the task...

    We'll see...

Why not just have them be FG or RB? Nothing wrong with having more than one. My flower girls were 8, 6, and 4. My ring bearers were 8 and 5.

You can put your favors in baskets and they can go around passing them out to your guests at each table at the reception.

@Potters - the only issue with that is that they are family coming from out of town. So odds are that they will be coming into town roughly a day before the wedding. So... I'm assuming in that case I would have to meet them the day before the wedding and go through it with them and the parents? I'm just not sure how complicated it might get... I think I'll be having the rehearsal a few days before (maybe the Thursday)
