Hello all beautiful brides!!!

I’m just wondering what I need to do about the head count for food. We have about 8 children attending our wedding under the age of 12. It’s just immediate family and they won’t be staying long but do you add them to the catering number even if it’s buffet style? I know they won’t be eating much so I’m wondering if I actually need to add them into the count?

You should ask your caterer what their policy is for children under 12.

You should ask your caterer. I know ours was a cheaper price for children, but we also had a plated meal.

They are eating so yes they will be counted for both seats and food. Make sure the caterer knows you have 8 children and ask what the charges are. Are older kids half price and under 5's free or ?

Yep, just ask!
With our venue, they actually have a kids menu that's much cheaper than the regular buffet meal.

We aren’t having kids at our wedding for this reason among other reasons, but ask your caterer.

Definitely ask the venue, they may charge a different price or offer a different meal for kids a certain age

Definitely ask the caterer about kids meal pricing, but also ask the kids' parents about whether they expect their kids to eat. Under 12 is a big range. You should definitely expect an elementary school aged child to eat and an infant not to, but some toddlers may come with their own food.

It’ll depend on your venue/caterer. Our venue charges differently depending on the guests’ ages. When we give our count, we’ll have adults (full price plus open bar charge), teenagers (full price, no bar charge), children 13-5 (majorly discounted), and children 4 and under (free).
