Child who carries the train

Blondie123, on May 15, 2014 at 12:05 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 11

So, my niece was going to be my flower girl, but since the aisle will already be covered in petals when she gets out there, I thought it would be silly for her to be going down the aisle dropping more petals. However, I have a large train and my wedding is outside, and I am concerened about it getting snagged. I realized that I could have my niece carry my train instead, which might be more appropriate anyway since she is about 8, and is definitely on the older side of being a flower girl (she is exceptionally tall for her age, so we actually had to get her a junior bridesmaid dress to wear for the wedding). This has worked out great, however, my dillema is, I don't know what to call her in the program. Is there a name for the girl that carries the train? Don't they have a bunch of little girls that carry the train at the royal wedding? What are they called?

There is no name, if it a boy it is a page boy but if it a girl then they are just called a bridesmaid usually

There is no special name really, just something a page boy or bridesmaid does

    - edit -

The bridesmaid bit especially makes sense in Britain as traditionally their bm and the like follow the bride anyway so just something they may or may not do (carry the train)

Pages are usually boys, I think.

I was at a wedding where a girl child held the bouquet instead of the MoH doing this - they called her a bridal attendant.

My flower girl isn't dropping anything. She's just holding a bouquet. I'm not sure the term of the person who holds the dress.

Yeah, I found the page boy thing too, which I thought was funny because I've never seen a boy do the task. I do like Bridal Attendant; I will probably use that, as it makes the most sense. Thanks guys!
