Chicken or fish?

Jamie, on February 16, 2020 at 6:40 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 15
Our wedding is coming up in June. For entree options we get two choices, plus a vegetarian option. We know we want the beef option, but are torn on whether we should do chicken or fish as the other? My H and I both love fish, but we also know we personally would order the beef. I was not a fan of the chicken at the tasting... I’m stuck on where to go from here!

We did fish as the extra option. Some family has dietary restrictions and fish is not one of them! This offered a nice options for those who may be struggling with certain health issues. Also, i have noticed that many weddings or other events that serve chicken seems to be not great. Even to the point of food poisoning.

I think if you weren’t a fan of the chicken at the tasting, I’d pick the fish, but this is also a know your crowd thing. Some families love fish and others don’t like it at all so I’d consider who you’re inviting and what you think they’d be more likely to order.

I agree that this is a know your crowd thing. If you didn't like the chicken, I probably wouldn't select it, but maybe you should ask your close friends and family what they would prefer between the two options.

I would pick beef and fish over beef and chicken.

With a vegetarian option too for guests, I’d say go for beef & fish if that’s what you want.

I agree with others about probably choosing the beef and fish options, unless knowing your crowd suggests they'd be better with chicken. We live on the coast; pretty much everyone here eats/enjoys fish, but H has a lot of Midwestern relatives, and to them, unless it's a Lenten Fish Fry, they think "fish" is some weird thing from another planet, so they'd definitely choose chicken....

Our plated menu is an option of beef or fish with a silent vegan choice. I never even considered chicken. As of now it’s pretty even between the fish and beef in the rsvps. There will always be picky people, you can’t cater to everyone’s tastes. Go with what you feel is best.

We did beef, fish, and a vegan alternative. The only good chicken dish I’ve had at a wedding was one that was BBQ catered. Also, my mom insisted that chicken is seen as a “cheap” option, and that beef and fish are much nicer for a wedding. Not sure how true that is, but regardless, our menu was fine and no one missed the chicken.

I’d go with the fish, chicken can be dry if it’s not cooked the right way or doesn’t come with sauce. And if you didn’t like it at the tasting, I wouldn’t pick it.

Can you pick another chicken option? We had bison & chicken at ours. I probably wouldn't order fish at a wedding unless the venue was known for fish or it was somewhere on a beach with fresh fish.

I would also go with the fish, but echo everyone who is saying it is more of a "know your crowd" thing. We are doing fish, chicken, and veggie. His family likes chicken more, and my family likes fish.

Or pick another chicken option? I swore I was going to go with a certain chicken entree from our tasting, ended up hating it, and went with another one instead lol.
