Chicken nuggets and fries anyone?

Happily Engaged, on September 9, 2014 at 11:09 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

We decided to change the food option for the 3 young children attending our reception. They're ages 8 and 2 girls who just turned 5. They now have the kid's meal at discounted price. Chicken nuggets and fries. Venue says it's the only discounted meal option for kids unless we pay full price for the adult meal.

I told my mother and she's throwing a fit saying my daughter shouldn't have to eat chicken nuggets at her own mother's wedding. Uggh! I don't plan on changing the meal again. Just frustrated and tired of hearing about it from her. I know for sure the 5 yos are not eating roasted chicken wrapped in prosciutto. Daughter doesn't like mashed potatoes AT ALL and will not be interested in the veggie. Why waste $65 x 3? Is 9/20/14 here yet?!

We are throwing a pizza party for our kids for $9 a head. They get veggies, fruit, pizza and an ice cream treat after. There's noooo way they'd eat most of what we're eating (shrimp crackers, Camembert toast, bison stew? Yeahhh not kid friendly!)

My FMIL is sort of spazzing about what we will likely pick for our menu also. I showed her the website with menu options, she is all worried about what her 2 grandkids (FHs' son 14, and neice 10) will eat. They are both very picky eaters. I said " Well they will both eat the dinner rolls, the fettuccine is amazing and so are the scallop potatoes." If she won't eat the food, Mc Donalds is across the highway". I have seen her cook 3 different meals for her and the other adults, and 1 for each kid, on more than one occasion. FH"s son is learning to eat more things, and will at least try most things at my house.

FH is requesting chicken tender and fries as his meal lol. That is what the kids at my wedding will be eating, unless they are older and want to have the actual meal. Does your daughter not like nuggets and fries?

My kids are the weird ones who would love the wrapped chicken. They learned early on, if it's good enough for me to cook it's good enoigh for you to eat.

Hahaha. My daughter loves chicken nuggets. My mother is saying this is a special occasion. She should eat what everyone else is eating. I know my daughter would barely touch the meal. She'd be hungry. Why give her something she wouldn't enjoy? I don't have time to force her to eat on that evening. So that's that. Everyone obviously knows most kids love nuggets!

Our child meal is chicken tenders and fries. When I heard it I was like "Ew. At a wedding?" Then I realized it made the most sense. Why pay $50 for a 3 year old who won't eat that food, if I can pay $10 for chicken tenders which they will actually enjoy? Hell, I like chicken tenders! So, just go for it. I don't think it's a problem. However - Having a child hanging off you all night complaining they are hungry because they didn't have anything to eat? That would be a problem!

My son would have preferred the adult meal at 4 years old but then again I have an ODD child when it comes to food. He eats better than I do honestly.
