Chick-fil-a Catering

Courtney, on January 19, 2020 at 8:43 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 23
So I kinda love the idea of CFA catering my wedding but I know that’s not really classy. However I am have an outdoor barn wedding. Thought?

Agreed. I'm having a food truck at my wedding. Not traditional at all. CFA sounds great!

Pffft I say go for it. If our venue hadn't included catering, i would have considered it. Who doesn't love nuggets and waffle fries?

That sounds bomb! I would love that! I know a couple who do McDs as their late night snack and it was a huge hit! You don’t need fancy food, just love and happiness!

I love the idea! My FH and I were thinking about it when we started planning our wedding but we decided to go with a restaurant that would offer full service catering for our buffet. Our local CFA did not offer full service and just wanted to give us trays to put out with no way to keep things warm. We didn't like that idea for the wedding b/c we didn't want cold food for our guests, we're expecting 125. However, they are catering our rehearsal dinner b/c it a much smaller group, only about 26 will be eating, and everyone can grab food when it's delivered.

My friend had chick fil a and Shane's rib shack. I would totally go to a wedding reception with this on the menu again.

My venue has an exclusive caterer that is a BBQ joint. No one can give me grief because it's required, but even if I had full choice I would have looked for something similar since my FH and I are not fancy meal types, and most of our family/friends aren't either. If CFA is what you like, do it! Like a previous poster mentioned though, consider how you'll keep it warm

My cousin had chick-fil-a cater and it was really tacky because they simply did not display it well. I personally wouldn't complain because I LOVE chick-fil-a, but how you display it is something to think about! (My dream would be a chocolate fountain, but with chick-fil-a sauce instead of chocolate)

If it's a very casual wedding, I think that's fine.

In the face of so much love for this idea, I want to say that I don't think fast food improves at all with sitting around. I can't imagine this type of food would still be good (either flavor or texture) by the time dinner was served. That would be my main consideration, not whether it's "classy" or not.

Not for me, but it's your wedding. I'd definitely consider how close the nearest CFA is to your venue site and how many guests you will have, because as the PP said, fast food is best when enjoyed right away, not after it has been sitting around.

You may also want to consider your guests. Chick-Fil-A has been wrapped up in controversy for donating to anti-LGBTQIA+ groups in the past (although it's changing its philanthropic model in 2020, so that should no longer be the case). If you have any guests at your wedding who identify as LGBTQIA+, serving CFA might seem really disrespectful. Even if I were wanting to serve more casual food at my wedding, I'd probably avoid any company whose values so publically don't align with mine.

Also finger food is pretty messy and not something I'd want to eat when wearing my best.

I am so glad someone else said this.
I would see serving ChickFilA at a wedding as a very political statement. As a matter of conscience, and as an ally, I won't eat it. That controversy may be something to consider.

I cannot agree more with this; our LGBTQ family and friends would be hurt if we made this decision.
