Chiavari Chair Rental

Emmie, on August 28, 2018 at 10:04 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 14
The chairs that come with my venue are HIDEOUS. So casual and cheap looking. Not at all what we are looking for. I want dark wooden or golden chiavari chairs instead. We have around 150 guests, so with ceremony and reception we want around 250 chairs. What should I be paying for these? What's a deal on this many and what's me being taken advantage of? Help!!

Those chairs are so uncomfortable. They may look good, but functionally, they stink. Are there other options that are more comfortable and still look good?

I had quotes from $6 to $12. My planner has a connection. What she’s saving me on chair rentals covered half of her fee.

In our area they run about $8 per chair plus a delivery and set up fee of $150.

They’re $7 in the part of SC im in, with an additional .45 for setting up each chair. I want to warn you though - they’re really uncomfortable. I wanted to use those chairs for my wedding as well and when I was researching I read a lot of reviews about how awful and over priced they are. We ended up just having to do garden chairs. Even though they’re not that great looking they were better than the ones at the venue.

I feel like this is an average price (not including delivery and/or set up). I haven't seen any chiavari chairs for less than $6. If you're really on a budget you can have the venue staff and/or the guests take their chair to the reception. I've done it for two weddings and I personally didn't mind ... but I wouldn't be surprised if other guests got offended.

If the ugly venue chairs match your ceremony color motif you can just keep your venue chairs for your ceremony (assuming they're not THAT ugly) and rent chiavari chairs for the reception. Since most ceremonies are set up in a way that a lot of people are bunched together, your guests will hide most of the chairs from photos and video.

Emmie, Is there time between the ceremony and reception and a different cocktail reception (if having one) location? This way the venue is able to inconspicuously move the chairs from the ceremony to the reception area avoiding you the extra rental cost on the quantity of chairs?

The quotes I got were between $5-$10 per chair not including delivery and set up.

The only ones I've seen that I really like otherwise are the wooden crossbacks but they seem to be like twice the price per chair!

We're actually having a dry wedding so there's very little downtime in between, and I thought of guests maybe moving the chairs but they would have to either go long ways around the building for wheelchair access or walk up a flight of brick stairs. Not too ideal.

That's a great idea! Maybe I will just rent them for the reception. And that would work better anyway since the ceremony is outdoors on grass.

I think it depends on the area you live in. Ours was around $5.99 each. You can cut cost by using folding chairs for the ceremony.
