Cherish your time together!

Peggy, on February 17, 2021 at 11:55 AM Posted in Married Life 4 47

My wonderful husband and I were married on June 30, 2018. We used Wedding Wire as our organizer. We had a beautiful wedding with beloved family and friends present. Even though it was the second wedding for both of us, and we both were sixty years old, it was the best time in both our lives! My husband and I both worked 60+ hours a week. However, when covid hit, he began working at home on March 16, 2020 and I was furloughed on the same date. We spent 24/7 together, unlike in our past eight years of being together because we both worked. We became closer, talked more, and our relationship elevated to a much higher and loving level. I fell in love with him even more. It was great! Covid was good for us! We had a family vacation planned in October 2020. We went to Gatlinburg, TN joining six other family members there. On the last day of our vacation and during our drive home, my husband became ill. I brought him to the Mayo Clinic in Jackonsville, FL. He had emergency surgery. I waited in our vehicle in the parking lot for hours and hours waiting for that call to come. Finally the doctor called, said all is well, he is in recovery, and that covid rules were just changed so I can soon join him in his room and stay there with him for five days while he recovered. I called everyone to say he is all right! My husband text me to bring his things up to his room. I got them together and walked over to the hospital. A nurse was waiting for me. By time I had walked over there, she said he had a seizure and they were intubating him. After an hour of resuscitation efforts, they could not bring him back. I lost my husband! We were happily married only 846 days. My message to all of you is to cherish every moment you have together, because you never know when God will call one of you home. I lost my husband 3.5 months ago, and it still feels like yesterday. I still feel like I got married yesterday. We were blessed in having those last eight months of closeness together.
Thank you for reading my story.

Peggy, my heart goes out to you. I cannot begin to imagine your heartbreaking loss. You are so strong to focus on your gratefulness of the time you had together, especially during covid. What a strange blessing to be granted that special time together. There is no question your hearts will always be connected through all time and space in the universe. He clearly was a loved man and have faith you will be reunited in heaven with your husband. I volunteered in the ICU unit and it only increased my faith of heaven after many stories told to me there. Will say a special prayer for you today and be sure to cherish my husband extra today - as your message has resonated with me ❤️
