Chengsam/qi pao from cozyladywear.com?

Tl;dr Is cozyladywear legit? Been burned by a similar looking site in the past.

Wondering if anyone has gotten a cheongsam from there and what the quality is like. When my mom got married we tried to order from a Chinese site because there don't seem to be any places that make cheongsam in Boston. They made and sent us cotton mock ups to make sure fit was ok, then never replied to anything else. So, I'm a little weary of a site that I'm having trouble finding reviews from Amercan customers(so I can actually be able to read them and to see if they handle overseas transactions well). There are some posts on weddingbee and reddit, but mostly old.
I'm mixed race and love some of the designs on there that are still a red chengsam but pull from western dress, too. In particular there's one that's red on top with lace flowers and transitions into white with a train. It's a halfie, like me! I haven't seen anything like it aywhere else. My bridesmaids are suggesting I order this summer in case it goes awry so I'd have time to find another dress. Getting married summer '19
Also, if you have successfully ordered from there, did you do the custom measurements or pick a size? I'm not sure if 'm measuring me or dimensions of clothing that fits me.

If you have already been burned by one of these sites, why oh why would you try this again ?

If you want a wedding dress that is inexpensive, there are many legit ways to get one. eBay, preownedweddingdresses.com, second hand stores, off the rack in a department store, buy a bridesmaid dress in white, Azazie, David’s bridal...

If you do not have advice or understand this cultural situation, then you do not need to impose your culture onto me or judge me for my choices and my struggle finding this type of dress. Your advice may be helpful somewhere else, but I am not looking for a white dress(my culture's wedding colors are red and gold for good luck) or merely a cheap one. Please check your privlege.

Whoa what a response....anywho I do not see many on here looking for that kind of attire unfortunately. On another site (I cannot list them due to TOS) they have a section for different ethnic/cultures, you may have more luck there.

Sorry can't answer your question re the website but I did a quick search for places in Boston and these are the ones that came up on yelp.

I'm not in the area so I have no idea if they're any good. Are there any options in Chinatown?

Were you able to find a cheongsam? I'm looking for one too and stumbled upon Cozy Lady Wear. I checked the reviews to see if it's legit. People did say the quality of their dresses are good. But I would suggest maybe going to Chinatown in NY and look for cheongsams. Check out this place...https://www.yelp.com/biz/new-age-designer-new-york?osq=cheongsam

    I hope this helps.

Hi! Hope you can read this!

So I just created a profile just to respond to your forum post, so please ignore my profile. I'm not getting married anytime soon, but I wanted to share my experiences with CozyLadyWear.

So the dress I bought from the site for my year 12 high school formal in Australia arrived today, and I'm honestly pretty pleased with the quality. I bought a blue brocade mermaid dress with a sweetheart neckline, so it's kind of what you said with those Western-inspired Chinese dresses. I was born and grew up in China, and I wanted to be a little more 'out-there' for formal. I had my dress custom measured, the fit is good and my formal date seems to love the dress even more than I do!

The dress you're talking about, I've seen that white dress with red flowers on the website so I know what you're talking about! That one is quite similar in fit to the one I bought, and seems safer than the lace fabric qipao reviewed on weddingbee that people said had a 'chemical-y smell' to it and were quite stiff.

Taking into account of the reviews on weddingbee, I did so much research online before buying the dress but there was no recent reviews so I decided to message the seller and and confirm that the quality of the dress will be okay. I think I sent at least 10 emails over the while ordering to receiving process, and even got a photo of the dress material just to make sure that it didn't look tacky in real life (beneath the disguise of photoshopped images). If you do end up buying from the site, then be sure to ask for a photo.

On weddingbee, the reviews about the site were varied with some people loving their dresses while others were a little disappointed. I guess it really comes down to the specific dress. I avoided dresses with embellishments in fear that it might look tacky, and I think that was a wise move considering I had to have mine custom ordered and their returns policy don't allow returns for custom measurement made dresses. However, it might be worth it to get it custom made as the dress you want is a tighter-fitting dress and you would want the figure-hugging look rather than it being awkwardly bunched up. My advice is to make sure to read their size guide, and also if you end up getting it custom made, allow a few extra centimetres for the hips because I'm struggling to sit down in mine in fear of ripping the back.

    Hope that helps!

I've had decent experiences with cozyladywear. But i ultimatley found eastmeetsdress.com (chinese american young women that partnered in CA and i imagine are outsourcing the dress-making somewhere in asia). Dress came in custom made from measurements a few days ago and it is beautiful! The customer service is great and responsive. So if you are still wary about cozy lady wear or other online mainland China sites, I highly recommend checking out eastmeetsdress for some options. i tried on the dress and it fits perfectly, it came packaged very nicely, and came with some candy too! and the co-founder was incredibly responsive to all my questions. The dress I picked was a perfect combination of traditional chinese cheongsam, with some western elements (mermaid cut, etc) it took about 4-6 weeks to make with the measurements. The dress is beautifully lined and it fits me much better than very traditional sheath like cheongsams. I have ordered from cozyladywear before and while the experience was fine, i did feel that the quality was great for one dress, and so-so for another. I also checked out two stores in NYC Chinatown in Manhattan, and their pricing for custom made cheongsam was comparable and even more expensive than the bespoke dresses that I found on EastMeetsDress.

I am also getting a jacket made for my FH for the tea ceremony. I highly recommend you check them out as an option.

I'm thinking of doing the same as you. Did you end up ordering from the website? What was the quality like?
