Chemical peel??

Kelly, on February 4, 2014 at 5:29 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

I think I would like to get a chemical peel before my wedding. The problem is my wedding is in 18 days. I have never had a chemical peel has anyone had one done what can I expect will I heal on time?

If you've never done one, don't do it. Your skin might react negatively to it.

Have never done it but you don't have enough time IMO to do it. You do have time to get a nice facial though that can help if you are having problems with your skin.

I would not risk a chemical peel this close to your wedding. You don't know how your skin will react, how pink your skin will look afterwards, or if you are having a bad experience. Not the time to experiment with new stuff.

Don't! If you have a bad reaction to the chemicals used your face may not allow for the use of make up on your day. Plus you might be red like a tomato. Happened to me before and i was horrified with embarrassment. Just gently exfoliate instead.

Even with a facial, I would be careful. But I am paranoid because my skin is insanely sensitive. If you live near a Lush, they have fresh face masks, which always make my skin wonderful. But they only sell thim in stores because they are refrigerated.

Depends on what you're doing, I guess. I've had microdermabrasion with glycolic acid and it took maybe 3 days to fully heal.

Normally, dermatologists and estheticians recommend you try it a few months before your big day to make sure you're okay (because people do have bad reactions that last a LONG time sometimes).

I started my microdermabrasion with glycolic acid treatments a month ago and I get them about once a month (yes...my skin is THAT bad) and my skin is flawless afterwards.

You should talk to your dermatologist or esthetician and see what they recommend for you.

It has chemical in it… which should be a red alert for a HUGE NO! Go more natural so you don't have a reaction to it. My mom had one and it gave her a chemical burn and she broke out in a rash for 2 weeks!

    Plus 1 @ Pamela Anne

I've been doing them for years. The biggest problem with doing one so close to your date is you can get really bad acne the first couple treatments. A dermatologist or esthetician could, depending on your skin, do a light microdermabrasion. You still run the risk of break outs. Oil of Olay has a good microdermabrasion and peel that's OTC. Always do a spot check. Baking soda and lemon juice or strawberries will create a good scrub as well.

I work at a plastic surgery practice, and I wouldn't suggest it just because you have no idea how your skin will react. There are different levels of peels...ranging from recovery/peel time from 6-12 days. I have seen patients be fine after 2 and I have seen patients skin not take to it at all! Wait and save yourself extra stress!

I use this stuff call Skin Obsession to do at home chemical peels. I love the stuff! However when I did it the first time it took about two weeks for my face to stop peeling. Now it will only take a few days because I do it every few months. I would not recommend doing it this close to your wedding. You do not know how you skin will react to it. I would suggest going to a place like Sophora and getting some sort of mask to use a few time before wedding. The people that work there are very helpful and will be able to suggest the best product for you.

I would suggest a home mask from a brand that you're familiar with rather than a chemical peel ... i just really don't think it'd be worth the risk
