Chemical burn from a serum!

Naomi, on June 15, 2017 at 8:51 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

I just began a new skincare regimen, The Ordinary brand. I accidentally transferred some onto my eyelids when I was using it, definitely not purposefully. I clearly got chemical burns on my eyes, my right eye is the worst. I'm almost a week from when it happened and my eye is still very swollen and the skin is clearly burned and irritated. I'm going to call my Dr but I can't get in likely until tomorrow or next week because of work. Anyone have some experience with this?

It isn't something to just sit on. Go to urgent care and have it looked at.

You should have called days ago. Go to urgent care. Eyes are sensitive.

I agree with everyone here! You need to get to Urgent Care ASAP, the eyes are one body part you should NEVER wait to take care of an issue.

Definitely go see a doc. If it's a minor burn put some bacitracin on it (without getting it in your eye)...

    Okay, without the harshness ...

I have incredibly sensitive skin myself, and I've had to go to the ER twice due to bad reactions to a facial and an eye cream. You absolutely need to go right away to urgent care. They'll probably give you an antihistamine shot and a prescription for prednisone or some other kind of steroid. You should be much better within 48 hours and back to normal in another day or two after that.

Although being that you are a week out- the damage is probably done-and if it's healing there isn't much of a point other than avoiding the product you used.

(interesting to hear that about The Ordinary- although I know they specifically use certain chemicals- it's right on their website)

I'd make a note of that product and the active ingredients and avoid all other products with it in there.

Thank you for the input Casey C! As for everyone else, relax! I did see my eye doctor on Monday for routine appt and my eyesight/eye balls are fine. He dismissed the redness as just a general irritation but clearly this is not improving! Maybe my eye doctor just sucks lol
