Cheesecake questions

Savannah, on May 9, 2017 at 11:51 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 28

I was wondering what every ones thoughts were... FH and I wanted to do cheesecake instead of normal cake for the wedding. I'm thinking it may present itself more challenging than I was expecting, and possibly more expensive? Idk, I felt like I was curious what others thought? Thanks in advance Smiley smile

The top tier of my wedding cake is red velvet cheesecake. I love red velvet and my FH is an absolute cheesecake addict. Maybe you could cheesecake bites for the guest to cut back on costs.

I would do cheesecake bites or some sort of cheesecake pops that can be kept nice and cold. If it's your wedding cake, will it be sitting out like a regular cake? If it is I would be concerned of how long it'll hold before it starts to get a little too warm. I guess it could be frozen when it gets put out and then thaw-- no, that seems like it's too much (thawed outer area, frozen core - type of thing). The logistics of this could be difficult. Maybe do a cheese cake grooms cake- a smaller one that can be kept chilled. OR- accent the pieces of cake once served with a cheesecake garnish? Best I got...

Those are great points, I haven't even thought about it sitting out like a regular wedding cake, and the wedding is outside at a retreat center. There's a gazebo that's covered and has a place to serve food from but it may be really hard to keep them cool. My guest list is 50. I may be able to swing it... seems risky tho lol

Some friends of ours had a three tier cheesecake wedding cake. It was delicious and they said not a huge difference in cost. The only thing was the bakery didn't structure it well enough so it started to buckle a little bit during the reception. It made it fine to the cutting and it didn't fall or anything. I would just make sure they make sure it's stable if you did go that route.

This is what I originally wanted, Idk where to get it from around here tho. We have a cheesecake factory about an hour and half away. I haven't checked to see if they could do it or not tho

I love cheesecake but a lot of people don't. Most of my family doesn't like cheesecake and neither does DH. I think you would have to really know your crowd here. Could you do both? Maybe a dessert table and a small cutting cake/cheesecake?

If I were to get an actual wedding cake, I'd go for traditional cake.

I LOVE cheesecake but I'd think most of my guests would prefer regular cake.

But since we are not doing a traditional cake, we are doing several smaller cakes to be served, we are opting for a cheesecake, and a few other types of cakes.

We are doing a cheesecake to cut for just FH and I cause we LOVE cheesecake and really don't care for regular cake. For the guests we'll have mini cheesecakes and other mini desserts to choose from.

I don't think there is anything wrong with having cheesecake, it's your wedding. Definately keep in mind that the cheesecake will not be able to sit out long unless it is on ice.

We were going to have mini pies and cheesecakes for ours instead of a wedding cake.

I have since decided that I want a regular cake too so we plan to have all 3.

I think having a cheesecake as your cutting cake would be fun Smiley smile

Lots of people don't like chocolate.

Lots of people don't like buttercream/fondant

Lots of people don't like cake at all.

Do cheesecake. Add mini desserts if you like.

FH loves cheesecake as well. Cheesecake is delish, but I'm lactose intolerant, so even with pills I try to avoid things like that with such high dairy content. Plus, I love a traditional cake.

We were thinking of doing a cheesecake layer within the cake, almost like a filling. Instead of a mouse or fruit filling, it's cheesecake! I have no idea what it does to price, we haven't met with a baker yet.

We are doing cheesecake for our wedding! We have had them many times before and at multiple weddings and events and they hold up very well. We have a cutting cheesecake and then a variety of personal cheesecakes that we will be serving. The price per person was about the same as a traditional wedding cake for us as well. Smiley smile

Cheesecake is a fantastic idea, but I would also think about having other desserts because chances are that someone at your wedding will be lactose intolerant.

Just want to throw in my two cents, i hate cheesecake. I think the entire concept is disgusting. I'd be pretty bummed if there was no dessert for me to eat. Maybe do a few different things.
