Cheapest way to feed 150 guests

Maddie, on February 19, 2020 at 10:17 PM Posted in Planning 0 9
Really the only part of wedding planning that is stressing me out is the food part. I haven't even really looked into anything but I need advice on feeding 150 guests. I want my guests to have a good meal but I dont want to spend $70 a plate. If I need to have a smaller wedding to stay within budget, so that everyone gets a good meal I am willing, but I just want to see if anyone has advice on how to approach this within budget?!

The cheapest catering is usually Mexican, bbq, or Italian restaurants. It’s typically $10-$20pp for drop off service for a buffet. If you want a traditional caterer and a multi course plated meal that will be difficult to do on a low budget and depends a lot on where you live.

Mexican, BBQ, and Italian tend to be the cheapest catering options.

No booze is cheapest, just beer and wine also cheaper. Provide your own plates, silverware, no staff other than set up = cheaper

We have about 170 guests and got a quote from our favorite restaurant that it'll be $18pp. But that's 1 entre, 3 sides, sweet tea and lemonade.

Depending on your wedding and reception time you might be able to do finger foods! My reception is at three and is short so we are doing sandwiches from Walmart deli with some other side dishes to complement it. Also we are not having any alcohol served.

Where are you located? We are having a high end plated meal for $35 per head. You should be able to find something nice and reasonable.

We're doing a "buffet" with pork tenderloin and grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, garlic knots, and Cesar salad. It's delicious food and was relatively affordable for around $17/plate. We're having 200 guests.

You can typically get BBQ or Mexican from a restaurant for as low as $10 per person.
