Cheaper to buy or pay someone?

Honestly it's probably cheaper to hire someone, depending on the style and amount of decor you want.

I agree that it widely depends on what you want, but if you are on a budget, I do know that Costco does wedding flowers for a reasonable price, so it may be worth considering to do your florals thru them and then hire someone for the other decor you’re looking for. You could even try a local college to try to connect w a grad student in interior design. Good luck!

It just depends on what you are looking to do, the number of guests etc. Obviously you can DIY for less, but if you're talking about first going out to buy centerpieces and decor then it can add up to more than if you used a professional with access to those things, wholesale prices, etc. Not to mention many people put a high value on not having the stress of having to set up or clean up on their wedding day. Hiring vendors to do this would likewise add to the cost.

You can check facebook marketplace and possible other sites for people reselling their wedding reception decorations. Part of the concerns involve the level of sophistication you want. Sometimes people just want to add something to a bland room. Others are creating a look for the whole room -- perhaps of fine dining.

It depends on your skill level, really. I’m terrible at arranging flowers, but other friends can pop stuff together no problem. Also remember that your time is valuable too! You don’t save anything if you spend less money but have to put ridiculous hours into making it work. So just decide if you want to pay with money or time!
