Cheaper Hotel Block Option - How Far From Venue

Hi! Our wedding will be at a hotel in the New Orleans French Quarter. The room block we have at that hotel is pretty pricey ($300/night). I want to get a block at another hotel that is more reasonable for our budget conscious guests. What is the farthest distance (miles/time) that you would consider looking at? We are going to recommend that all of our guests not staying at the venue hotel use Uber or Lyft which is readily available in the area.

I wouldn't go more than 30 minutes from the venue.

Probably 20 minutes or so if you believe they will need Uber or Lyft. Depending on the pricing/distance, it may not make that much of a difference.

I can't imagine wanting to stay at a hotel further than that as a guest.

If using uber or lyft I would recommend 20-30 minutes top or else that uber will get pricey, especially in the city. I would expect surge rates as well as a lot of people are heading out

Try to cap it at 20 if most people are using ride sharing apps. That can really add up!

My hotels are far bc my venue is isolated. From 30 min to one hour away. I’m booking transportation for people to take.

I think the 20-30 minute range is about right, but make sure you factor in traffic and not just what the GPS says. You also may want to consider hiring a shuttle if you’re switching to a further hotel.

I think getting a second hotel block would be a great idea. If it were me, I'd want to stay within a 20 minute Uber ride, but could go up to 30 if needed.
