Cheap Wedding Venues?!

Marissa, on September 14, 2014 at 1:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

I just got engaged and am looking for really really cheap wedding venues. We are trying not to spend a ton of money on our wedding (we'd rather spend the money on a house or something) I'm looking for a venue that is under $1000 within an hour or two from the Portland area! If you guys have any suggestions let me know!!

Look into community centers, parks, vfw/elks lodges. Also look into off peak timing either season or day of the week like a Friday opposed to Saturday

Consider also "rustic barn" venues.... we are East Coast, but found one for $900 that fits 120, and it's on the property of a historic house.

I'm in Portland too, I've been look at parks in the area because they are inexpensive and outdoors! And it seems like the pricing doesn't change from weekday to weekend, where other more traditional venues can have a hugh price difference. Also, my friend just got married at a McMenamin's and they had a free venue when their catering met a certain threshold.

I live in Oregon and our wedding is next month. We are getting married just outside of Eugene. It's called Cloverdale Chapel. They don't have a website, but have a Facebook page. There is a chapel, outdoor space, a barn and an old one room schoolhouse. Each space is $200. We are getting married in the chapel and having the reception in the schoolhouse, so $400 total! It is a beautiful place. It is privately owned and the owner will be there to help set-up and pitch in on the wedding day. I have pictures on our website. Click Chapel photos at the top of the page.

P.S. We are also having a wedding on a small budget. We got a great deal on a Portland photographer. Let me know if you need any other referrals.

    Congratulations!

Look at Portland Parks and Recreation,Tualatin Parks and Recreation, and Hillsboro Parks and Recreation; they offer wedding venues and not just parks. Although, the cheapest venue is generally a park. Many community centers have auditoriums that can be rented and are generally under $100/hour.

Mcmenamins generally does not charge a room rental fee, they just have a food and beverage minimum. http://www.mcmenamins.com/GroupSales

    Specific Venues that are Inexpensive:

The Hoyt Arboretum Stevens Pavilion Picnic Shelter is $503 for the day (8am-9pm). http://www.hoytarboretum.org/events/2012-rental-fees/

The River House (4000 SE Rood Bridge Rd, Hillsboro, OR 97123 ) sits on top of of the highest point of a park and has pretty views (it's $125/hour non resident or $85/hour for resident).

The Milwaukie Center & Sara Hite Memorial Rose Garden. You could have the ceremony at the garden and the reception at the Milwaukie Center. The garden at $140/hour and the center is based on guest count (ex: $95/hour for 150 guests) http://ncprd.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Rental-Summary.pdf

Clackamas Community Club is $450 (from 8am until midnight, and until 1am to cleanup). http://clackamascommunityclub.com/pricing-reservations/

The Windrose Center is cheap if you only hold your reception here ($500 for a full day for a reception vs $1800 for ceremony/reception), http://www.windrosecenter.com/events.html

I attended a wedding at the Beazell Forest Education Center last year and it was a lot of fun. This is more for a rustic theme wedding. It’s $750 (7am-10pm). http://www.co.benton.or.us/parks/park_info/forest_education_center.php

    I hope this helps!

One more space I found that is inexpensive (but usually used for other events, not necessarily weddings) is the Patriot Hall in Tualatin.

They charge $200 for 5 hours and allow an extra hour for set/clean up. The room has 2 restrooms, can fit a maximum of 68 people and has a bar and kitchen. They are very accommodating, you can bring your own food and drinks.
