Cheap videographers-NJ Area

Paula976, on January 19, 2016 at 11:08 AM Posted in Planning 0 21

Any recommendations for affordable videographers? Looking for 1 videographer for the whole day.. All the ones I'm looking at are like minimum 3k, so ideally anything below that price (is that even possible!?) We wanted to spend more on the photographer than the videographer, so we're really not looking for anything fancy. Just someone to be able to document our day nicely Smiley smile

For a videographer, you should be able to find someone under 3g in NJ. i couldn't find anyone over 2.

We're using Keith Michael Productions for our CT wedding. His prices are reasonable (basic package is $1,200). I'm not sure if he travels, but it might be worth looking into.

Try MichaelSimonsvideo.com and inanyeventproductions.com. (Julie is the person there...) They are both here, they are both in NJ, and I love them both. Michael posted (recently) a video of a couple in Asbury Park that I really think is the best video I have ever seen at any price.

Try Montclair Studio... They're amazing and very fairly priced with lots of packages starting at $1,500

I used Martin's Accent Wedding Videos. They have a popular package that is $895. You pay half before the wedding and the other half after, when you get your video. I haven't made the appointment to get my video yet so I can't give a full review, but I think we will be happy with what we get for the price. They were recommended by my planner so I felt confident in that referral as well.

As a footnote, I only recommend other pros who actually own their own biz' with a tightly held group of pros.

Heck, I'd travel to Jersey to film the whole day for less than that (no, really, I would).

I suppose being I shoot solo makes it easier for me to be less expensive, though.

Celia, I liked the Michael Simon video a lot.

Elyse, your Martin Accent folks appear to use unlicensed, copyrighted music. That's big no-no.

I would see if maybe you can get a bundle of photography and videography, they usually will give a discount because you're booking both with the same vendor. Also a plus, you don't have to worry about the photographer and videographer clashing with each other since they'd have worked together already.

Don't do a bundle. One person is going to be less talented than the other. Almost always.

Have you looked through the WW vendor search yet?

Some of the vendors will list their pricing on the "FAQ" tab of their storefront!

I haven't used Montclair Studios for video, but I used them for photo and they were very good and very communicative.

A friend of mine owns her own business, I've worked with her 3 times and she is great for a small budget.

Thanks everyone! We already have a photographer anyway! I tried the search but sometimes the business doesn't indicate the price..

RobertBenda, what's indicating that? I haven't looked at my contract in quite awhile, but there was only a small list of songs I could choose from and they were all songs that I've seen countless times in other videos.

My videographer was 3200$ for the best package. Aka two shooters whole day. I also heard not to book video and photo from the same company. This advice came from my venue coordinator. Which Celia has a great point. Both my photographer and videographer own their own businesses and are the primary shooters. In wouldn't go with a studio personally.

Elyse, its not a good idea for a few reasons. For instance, one of their demo videos won't play on their website, only on YouTube. That's because of the copyright. At any time, the people who own the rights might pull the song (leaving your video without sound), or, your videographer might get sued out of business (and it has happened). That last one is less an issue if you already have your videos, of course.

Over all, its an indicator of how they treat their business. Licensing is very easy thing to do. There are amazing songs I can use for $50 once, $100 and I can use it 5 times.

A for cheap videographers, my only caution is cheap may mean 'minimal experience' or 'cheap equipment.' So be cautious and ask tons of questions about experience, microphones etc.

I agree with Robert; there are alternatives to using un-licensed music. As for Facebook, if you try to put a video with un-licensed music on Facebook, they may threaten to ban your account. It happens. And yep, your videographer might get sued. And yes, I'll go to NJ for less than 3k, it's not too far.
