Cheap Casual Wedding Venue Ideas?

Elizabeth, on June 8, 2020 at 8:43 AM Posted in Planning 0 8
We are not trying to do anything fancy. We have like 40-50 guests. I just need somewhere that would let us bring in our own stuff to set up and let us drink and be loud. The Ceremony and reception are at the same place. I tired looking at airbnb and we have no event friendly places in Springfield, Mo. We don't have any family that has large property, and we live in a trailer park so I would like to avoid being married at home. Like $1200 at most.

Unfortunately, Airbnb took away the event friendly options because of a recent shooting. Have you looked at local parks or VFW halls?

Are there any fire halls in your area? I’d try looking for rental spaces that would typically be booked for large birthday parties and not necessarily wedding venues.

Look for nature centers, city halls, parks, and any other kind of uncommon spaces. Campgrounds sometimes have larger buildings to accommodate people.

    Community halls might allow this!

I would second Melle's suggestion to look into community centers! I was about to recommend public parks (you can easily get a permit to have a wedding at public parks from anywhere between $50-$250) but these usually don't allow loud music and heavy drinking. Community halls sound like a good option

Try city rec centers, look at your city's park & rec site because they typically allow you to set up your own buffet and have full kitchens to use. The ones where I live are like $90/hour.

We found a place on AirBNB but we messaged our host to make sure it would be okay first before booking. I found messaging hosts was very helpful, some said no of course but others were ok with it.

We’re having a rather small wedding with 25-30 guests.

I found this policy page on their site:

I don’t have any specific recommendations but think about parks though they may have restrictions around drinking. We actually have a group homes organization that owns a farm out in the county and rents out an event house pretty reasonably. But for me I felt like I’d been to too many weddings out there and I wanted a more woodsy event, so I went with the park where I run trails all the time.
