Cheap Bridesmaid Dresses??

Erin, on June 17, 2019 at 12:41 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 17

I've been looking for bridesmaid dresses online for a while, but I can't seem to find any under $65. It's not too bad, but I know some of the girls aren't going to be able to afford it or want to pay that much for a dress they are probably only going to wear once. I also definitely cannot help them pay for their dresses. Is it selfish to ask them to pay that much for a dress they are probably never going to wear again?

You should ask each person, in private, what their budget is for a dress. Don't stress yourself out looking for a $50 dress just to find out that they could have spent $100-$150. If you do need something lower than $65, I would try out department stores like Nordstrom or Macy's instead of traditional bridal stores. Azazie also has some $50-$70 options.

We decided on infinity dresses off Etsy. They cost around $50-$55(shipping included in that price) Also, since they could be worn multiple ways, they said they would probably be able to wear them again to other functions. I guess it depends on the style you are looking for.

Lulus has some cute dresses or maybe Macy’s when they have one of their big sales.

Since my bridesmaids are paying for their dress, I'm letting them choose the dress they want to wear. They know what looks good on them and their own budget and all I gave them was the colour, that way they can make it fit in their own budgets, or maybe even find something they want to wear again!

I thought about doing this! I am a little worried that the colors won't exactly match or won't flow well together. Are you doing anything to solve that issue?

There's actually a trend called "mismatched bridesmaids" that looks really cute! So since I gave them a colour, if they're off by a little bit I think itd still be okay. I told all of my girls I want long dresses as well (since I'm having an evening wedding) so hopefully they all go together! We have a group chat on facebook and they're posting their dress on it so they have an idea of what they're all wearing

You can go to a paint store and select a color chip closest to the color you would like to give to your girls. You’ll still probably end up with a bit of a gradient based on what they can find, but you’ll be able to set clearer expectations than “pink” and it won’t cost you anything.

So, an option could be picking a color and letting the bridesmaids find their own dress in that color. If you want an exact color i would suggest buying a swatch for each bridesmaid and giving it to them. The swatches normally run $1 each.
Ive found that if your bridesmaids are dilligent they can find a dress in that color that fits them for $65 or less. Davids Bridal runs quite a few sales. Just a few weeks ago they had several dresses starting at $20. They can also look on amazon, Tradesy, Poshmark, Ebay and FB Marketplace. Or they can take the swatch with them and go looking to match the color in stores.

Amazon has a lot for under $65. You can read reviews other customers have left and see photos of people wearing them.
