Charleston Reccomendations

Katelyn, on June 24, 2020 at 2:44 AM Posted in South Carolina Planning 0 4
Since COVID decided to shake up our original honeymoon cruise plans, my FH and I decided we would do a mini-moon in Charleston, SC. Neither of us has been before so we are looking for recommendations! Best places to stay, must do activities, favorite restaurants, best tours, etc. any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm from South Carolina & we got engaged in Charleston at the Grand Bohemian hotel! They have a great rooftop bar for drinks Smiley smile It's a great hotel also if you are still looking for a place. Regardless, you'll want to stay downtown Charleston, we personally always stay below Spring Street! For nice restaurants, I'd check out Husk, 167 Raw (if you like raw bars), Hall's Chophouse, or Slightly North of Broad!

For more of a casual vibe, we love Harold's cabin, Leon's Oyster Bar, & Fleet Landing. Brunch: Millers all day or Basic Kitchen! In all honesty, the food in Charleston is fantastic so don't feel like you have to spend $$$$ for a great meal! Smiley smile

For drinks, we always go to The Rooftop Bar at The Vendue, Henry's on the market, Uptown Social, Citrus club. Also, check out The Griffon! It's an old pub with signed dollar bills all over the place!

Sightseeing: Definitely check out Rainbow row, bike The battery then go see the pineapple fountain, and if you like to kayak, you can go on Shem Creek and there's a good chance you'll see dolphins! Just walking around Charleston is great! I really don't suggest the carriage rides as the horses are mistreated and when we visited last we saw one pass out from the heat, it was awful.

Me and my fiancé got engaged at the end of a Charleston trip last September! We love Charleston! One of our favorite tours was the nighttime ghost/graveyard tour with Bulldog Tours. Our guide was very entertaining and very informative.

We ate at Poogan’s porch which we were taken to on the tour, as it is supposed to be haunted by a dog, Poogan. They had really good food but sadly we didn’t see the ghost doggy. On prior trips to Charleston I have visited the Yorktown, an aircraft carrier, and that was really interesting! Have a great mini-moon!!

You'll have so much fun in Charleston!! It's a great town to just walk around in - cute stores, gorgeous homes, and delicious food everywhere! Vendue's also got a good rooftop for drinks!
