Charger plates

annakac, on October 29, 2018 at 11:44 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 11

So I found black charger plates at Hobby Lobby that I like - they're $2 each so that would add up (I know not a ton but every dollar counts!). Dollar Tree has very similar ones for $1 but not in black. Has anyone spray painted charger plates and did it work well? If I can figure out when Hobby Lobby has them 50% off, I would do that but don't have one super close to check weekly. I've looked at renting and if I can get them for $1 each, it is definitely cheaper.

I think spray paint would work fine. Maybe buy 1 with some paint and see how it goes?

Hobby Lobby is sure to have a ton of sales during Christmas time so I'd wait until then! You can always check the website to see whats on sale before going to the store.

Every dollar does count!! But also your time does. How much would spray paint cost, and how long would it take to paint them all? Personally, I'd pass on the chargers, but if it's the look you really want, then....

Also, I think that is quite ingenious to spray paint the chargers. I would never have thought of that!

Well spray paint wpuld cost you and that's a lot of work also. Have you checked dollar trees website? You can order by bulk and have them delivered to your nearest dollar tree for free. So, then you're still only paying a dollar per charger without the work. Also you could possibly sale them once you are done with them.

They never go on sale at Hobby Lobby 😩
I’m getting mine there one at time using the 40% off coupons. I go about twice a week. I only need 16 more!!
I wasn’t crazy about the spray painted look.
Also try Facebook marketplace. I found a lot on there but by the time i did they were sold.

I would just buy them at Hobby Lobby. Spray paint is not cheap and your time isn't either. You will have to buy the spray paint that is specifically made to adhere to plastic, so that they won't chip/peel.

I didn't want to spend the money on buying chargers for my wedding and I wish I would have. The ones I borrowed were not gold, but more of a bronze-gold. They looked ok, but I wish I would have just spent the money and got the bright gold ones instead.

I'd just buy the Hobby Lobby ones. Once you factor in the cost of spray paint, the savings won't be that much. It'll save you so much time and guarantee they will look the way you want.

Yep my mom is helping too!
And when we go out to eat, I make FH come in with me so then we get 2!
If your wedding is far enough away you’ll have time. I started buying them in June for my January wedding.

I don't know how well spray paint will adhere to the plastic chargers. I got the silver ones from Dollar Tree. I've never seen them half off. Don't think spray paint would be the way to go, as they are plastic. Is there no way you can do a metallic charger, either gold or silver?
