Chapel length or cathedral length veil?

Emily, on October 15, 2018 at 10:46 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 23

So I am at a dilemma, I love the look of a cathedral length veil and I found one that I love and matches my dress but my mom is trying to convince me to go with the chapel length so that it is easier to walk with and wont possibly rip or get damaged. for reference I will be walking on a painted deck. But I just love the look of a cathedral length veil that passes my train on my dress! Which should I go with? Also do any brides have experience with a cathedral length veil outside?

Hi... I think you should go with what you love. It's you the bride... not your mum.

Hi Emily! I'm a bride and a veil designer so I hope I can help. I'm wearing a cathederal length veil of my design because, while a chapel length is still pretty, this IS THE ONLY TIME in your life that you'll get to wear a veil such as you've drempt and love! Go with your heart! They do pull sometimes, but I've never seen it show in pictures. I'll be going through grass, garden pebbles, and a stone patio. I hope it doesn't pull, but I know it won't show. Sometimes they don't pull. You'll never regret wearing your hearts desire, though.

My daughter is wearing a cathedral length veil that extends past her train. I absolutely love it! Like Victorian Bride said, you only get to wear a bridal veil once, so definitely do it!! My daughter's ceremony is in a church but, weather permitting, her first look and BP shots will be outdoors and she'll be walking across a wooden bridge. I'm not overly concerned about it catching.

I'm wearing a chapel veil because I have thin hair and my hair can't hold something super heavy. My dress also didn't have a super long train! Since you're getting married on a deck I think the veil will pull, but if you're ok with that then I say go for it!

I am 100% being extra and am going with a cathedral-length veil! We are having an outdoor ceremony as well. You only get to wear a veil once! I say go for it.

I have a chapel length dress, so I'm going with a cathedral length one for my outside ceremony. I don't really think something that drags behind you will make it harder for you to walk and chances are you won't have it on for the reception, so my vote is cathedral veil all day.

I’m not too worried about the look of it pulling but more of it snagging and getting a tear in it. I think I could love the look of a chapel length but I don’t really know how they look so if anyone has any photos of their chapel length veil would love to see them!

Depends on your dress. IMO, "ease of use" has little to do with it, ha ha ha. (what about any of this is *easy*?!) My dress is only a sweep brush train, so I am going with chapel length (less drastic of a difference).

I'm getting the longest veil I possibly can! So cathedral, haha! I'm just wearing it for the ceremony & pictures, then taking off for the reception.

Chapel length or cathedral length veil? 1

    Here you go for comparison....

You might want to put down a runner on the deck to avoid snags.

Could you show the pictures of both of your options to comparison?

Go for the cathedral! I only have a sweep train (which was my one issue with my dress!) so I got the biggest veil I could find to get the drama I wanted! I’ll be walking down stone steps and I’m not that concerned about it. As others have said, maybe put down a runner? Also, tell your MOH to be prepared to discretely step on the end if the wind picks up! As others have said, this is your only chance!

This is my dress with the cathedral length I like. My dress does have a 1-2 foot train already. I don’t have one of the cathedral length because they didn’t have it in store but they said it would end right at the train of my dress because it is about a foot shorter
