Changing your name on your mortgage

Naw, they can change it lol. It's not really important to do, but they CAN. The more important part is changing it on the deed to your house for when you sell.

The name change process is probably the thing I'm looking forward to the least. I don't know if it's because I've heard so many horror stories, but it just seems incredibly frustrating.

I think this is normal for loans. I paid my car loan off, but they wouldn't change it prior.

I changed my name with the bank but they didn't change it on my mortgage. I didn't bother pushing it. I will ask when we sell if it needs to be changed but you have the paperwork to show the name change no matter what, so don't worry too much about it.

I just signed a mortgage with my FH, and we will change it once we marry. We were told to do so because of tax and legal purposes. My FH is an attorney and definitely agreed.

Thanks ladies. I wont worry about the loan and just remember the deed when we decided to sell.

@Elizabeth what's frustrating is it never the same. With my credit cards; one changed my name over the phone, another I needed to provide my ML and the last one I had to fax this weird encrypted message with a copy of my old and new DL.
