Changing from ceremony shoe to reception shoe? HELP!

Lizz M., on September 6, 2012 at 12:09 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 5

Our ceremony is being held in a church, and our reception is being held on a pier. I have blue heels - 3" in height - that I'm wearing for the ceremony & pictures, and then I planned on changing into a wedge flip flop for the reception. I won't be able to walk on the pier in heels.

I found a pair of Reef sandals that are 2.25" in height that are beautiful! I'm wondering if that .75" will make THAT much of a difference? Should I bring both shoes to the first fitting and the alterations can be made to accommodate both shoes? Is that possible?

Have any other beach brides dealt with this?

I would recommend bringing in both shoes. ask the alterationist what his/her thoughts are - they'll know what works best.

my friend had a beach wedding and did the ceremony bare feet (we were in sand) and then put her heels on for the reception.

my friend who got married recently wore 3" heels and switched to flat flip flops and said she regretted it because she was carrying her dress all night due to it being way too long.

    hope that helps

I would also say bring both shoes to your fitting. It's almost a whole inch and could end up causing your dress to drag unless your seamstress can accommodate both shoes.

I got 3 or 4inch wedge flip flops off ebay for $10 (and they matched my colors) that were super comfy for dancing. Unless you just LOVE the Reefs (and I love the pairs I have), you might look to see if you can find anything that matches height-wise.

Nope, it's not gonna work :-( Any way you can find higher wedge?

There's no way to alter the dress so that it fits two different heel heights.

Try this. Wrap a sheet around your waist and let it hang about an inch on the floor. Try walking around and you'll see.
