Changing dresses just for father-daughter dance

Oh wow! That sounds like so much fun! I would love to see yall's dance together! At a lot of the weddings I have been to, the first dance comes shortly after the speeches. Maybe you could change right before dinner and then change back after the first dances are done? Or you could do first dances right after the reception starts but before dinner, so change right after pictures and change back before dinner. Although in that case, you would probably want at least some type of background music during dinner so it doesn't seem to go quiet all of a sudden.

While I totally get the impulse, that's going to really cut into your reception time, especially if your dress is complicated.

We did a swordfight to open our reception, and our friend/choreographer deliberately choreographed around me having a big, heavy dress.

I think it would be easier for your dad to accommodate your dress than for you to have to change twice.

OP, what did you end up doing? I'm in the same predicament. Doing complex waltz movements is impossible in my wedding dress even though I love it so much (and it can't just be solved with a bustle). Thinking of wearing a smooth standard competition dress (colored) for the first dance and maybe changing back after that. Also, if you did do this, did you pick a white ballroom dance dress or a colored one? Thanks!
