Changing a vendor- help!

Neeva, on January 5, 2020 at 1:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

I have been having a bad feeling about my DJ for a few weeks now, can't tell you why, just thought he seemed a bit iffy in our last phone call. He hasn't been communicative since our last call which I think is okay since our wedding is still a few months away.

I checked his reviews online to see if anything has changed since I booked him and he has a few 1 star reviews from the past few months. Saying he didn't show up on time or played the wrong music or wasn't cued for their entrances. Now I am freaking out. He has a bunch of 5 star reviews still but they are from over a year ago (when I booked).

I found someone else who is available and has better more recent reviews. What do you guys think? I will lose money by going with someone else and have to pay them more for their services (higher price for better service?)

Thanks in advance!

I’d pay more money to make sure you have the services that you want.

I would say that it's better to lose some money than to have him possibly show up and then make the reception a bad time. It does suck because we should book people far out and then all of a sudden when they start to become unprofessional we are the ones that are screwed.

I hate to say it, but if I were in your situation I think I would go with the new DJ. It sounds like the one you booked may have some things going on in his life that is making him unreliable. DJs have such an important part in making your wedding go smoothly, I don’t think I would want to risk it. Always listen to your gut instinct.

Maybe call the DJ and talk to him about the reveiws before you make any rash decisions. Of course, i wouldnt trust him, but maybe if theres some reason for that?? Do you lose all of the money on it if you switch?

If it's within your budget, I think that losing a deposit is worth your peace of mind.

I’m going through something similar and we are going to go with someone else. We’ll lose a $300 deposit, but it’ll be worth the peace of mind. The music is so important to us!
