Changed my mind - do i have to pay off the dress?

AG, on May 1, 2018 at 1:00 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13
So I put down a deposit on a dress, only to find a new one. I just got an email saying that the original dress is in. I’ve paid $450 and $300 remaining. I’ve read that shops can pursue you to pay off the remaining balance, but I feel like legally I don’t have to based on my sales agreement?

What does the sales agreement actually say?

I don’t see how you think that says you don’t owe them. It says all sales are final. You owe them the balance. They can pursue you for the balance, though they probably would sue for such a small amount.

Is your plan to just eat the $300 and never pick up the dress?

Idk I guess I just didn't think about the wording of it? And yeah plan was to eat the $300, I'm not sure I could sell it for over $450 so wasn't sure it was worth it. It's not a huge deal either way I can afford the extra $300, I just know a lot of girls change their minds and wasn't sure what the norm is.

Pay for the dress, resell it, and do the right thing.

Based on that wording, you need to pay the balance on the dress and pick it up. At that point, you can use it or sell it but legally you purchased a dress and morally, doing that to a business is not fair to them.

I would plan to pay the balance of the dress. You signed an agreement, and therefore they can pursue you to pay it off. There are plenty of FB groups, thrift shops, etc. where you can try and sell the dress again.

The shop could maybe sell it to someone else for 500 then give you 100 and they would earn 100 more than if you paid them just off. I would just ask them or sell it yourself.

If you pay of the balance you can collect the dress and resell it. That's what I would do. Or call the shop and explain the situation and see if they can work with you.

Call the shop and see if they are willing to work with you otherwise you will have to pay off the balance and try to sell the dress.

I would pay off the balance and just try to sell the dress. Or at least call and talk to them. They might be willing to write off the amount owed and sell the dress in store. If you say nothing and never come for the dress, they do not know what is going on. You know.

It is not their fault you changed your mind. Most likely the 60% is their cost on the dress, but still...you would be in a sense ripping them off.
I would pick it up and try to sell.

It says all sales are final, so I truly believe you have to pay them in full.
