Changed my mind about my dress...

FutureMrsM, on August 8, 2014 at 12:48 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

So I Said Yes to the Dress at Kleinfeld's about two weeks ago. I thought I was sold on the Maggie Sottero Marianna dress, however, the more I thought about it I knew that wasn't the dress for me. That day I let everyone's opinion supersede what I knew I really wanted for my wedding dress. With that in mind I made another appointment at Kleinfeld in attempt to find THEE dress. Well that appointment was yesterday and I am ecxcited to say I FOUND MY DREAM DRESS!!!! Its everything I ever envisioned looking like as a bride. The only people with me this time was my mother and one of my sisters. Having less people with me at this appointment allowed me to really focus on my own thoughts and feelings. I finally had the "this is it" feeling which had my mother, sister and I all in tears.

Any other brides brought a dress then changed there mind?!

I actually had the exact same experience as you. I went to davids bridal the first time for my dress and took my aunt, my mom, FMIL, and 1 of my bridesmaids. I said yes to the dress and a week later I hated it. So I went back to davids bridal and only took my mom and I cried and had my bridal momentSmiley winking

Yep. I originally went shopping on Mother's Day at David's with my mom, two aunts, my two sisters, and my daughter. I really liked two dresses on the website but I could only find the one to try on and when I did it fit very nicely. I just couldn't shake the other dress that I hadn't gotten to try on. I had my dress almost two months when I found the other dress to try on. I went with a really good friend and fell in love with dress two. The first is the original and the second is my new dress.

Yes. I bought a dress that I thought would suit me, beachy and all that. It had no lace.

I bought this dress 6 months before the wedding, then with about 3 months left to go, I wanted to alter it and add a lace train. I basically hated it. Discovering I couldn't transform this dress on my own, I went to meet a freelance seamstress to see what she could do. She actually had a dress for sale that was in my size, a lace train, and a sweetheart cut like I wanted. I tried it on and I cried in the public bathroom at my local YMCA with her. She's now altering the dress and it will be ready in a few days. Great times.

Yes, it happened to me as well. In the beginning, I figured I could not order a dress since I had only 5 months to plan my wedding. I went alone to an appointment and I was pressured by 4 sales people to order a dress that day or I would run out of time. I did it and by the next day I regretted it!!

I was able to work it out with the store and then 2 weeks later I found the perfect dress for me. I just LOVE it & know that my FH will just tear up when he sees me walk down the aisle Smiley smile

Yes! I found my dress when I went looking alone, it was something I wouldn't have tried on bc my daughters wanted me in ruffles and what was't ruffles they would just be like oh its ok. I bought the dress I tried on and was like I LOVE this dress without any other people's opinion. When I went with them to try it on so they can see it and buy it, they were just happy I loved it Smiley smile

There are times when I wonder if I should have looked more. But then I just rationalize that this is one dress that I will only wear for one day for a few hours. The dress isn't important enough for me to over think it. It is flattering and timeless, that's all that really matters to me.

Happens all the time. I think you did right by going back with less people. so happy you found THE dress! it's great!

changed my mind after buying a dress? no. change my mind while designing my dress? you bet! I finally gave up on the plan of cutting the dress 6 months in advance. I cut it a week ago just like I planned. big reason was I was loosing a lot of weight, had I cut the dress back then I'd have to do major alterations anyway. worse than making a new dress.

break over, back to the dress!

I hear you @Riki. I do feel like I went to too many stores and tried on way too many dresses because it started to cloud my judgment! In the end, I'm glad I kept searching because in my heart I knew I wasn't genuinely happy with my decision.

@StitchingBride the designer is Pnina Tornai
