Change of plans nj to nc

Jackie, on October 17, 2019 at 4:15 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
So we have been looking for a place to get married in NJ for a small wedding .Probably looked at most places and only found two places that were affordable.
BUT
Now we have thought about changing our plans and having our wedding in NC near Asheville. Since our guestbook list was around 50 max we figured we could have an elopement with closest family like 15 max and rent an Airbnb for 2-3 days.
The day before the wedding have a welcome dinner .
Then depending on the time of wedding we could go out to eat at a nice place or have catering for the “reception “ then have a breakfast the next day.

if anyone has done This before or have any other suggestions, comments , ideas , please share!!!

Microweddings are a good idea if you want a more intimate wedding for sure! If it's in budget, I'd try to work with a coordinator so you aren't having to go to NC to meet vendors & see venues often. I'd plan the wedding first, then price out the additional events afterwards.

I haven't done this, but Asheville is a beautiful place to have a wedding! I will say to make sure you read the Airbnb policies on the listing you're considering, some of them will explicitly say "no parties, weddings, events" or something like that Smiley smile

FH proposed to me at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville. I was also trying to go to NC for our wedding because he has family there that we could have just used their property and I knew we would all have a place to stay for either free or super cheap. But most of our family is here in Florida so we figured it was best to find somewhere here. NC is definitely a beautiful place so if it’s something your want to do then go for it ☺️ I have also heard of couples actually getting married at an Air bnb and then themselves and their guests stayed at the Air bnb that same night.

Hey Jacqueline! If a small wedding like this is something that you want, then I think it sounds like a perfect idea!

As a pp mentioned, make sure that you look for Airbnbs that allow guests to host events, if you are planning on having either your ceremony or reception on the property.

Have you previously spent much time in NC?

The only time we went to NC is when we went for our 4 year anniversary. I ended up proposing. We loved the area and all the surrounding mountains.
