My fiancé and I booked our wedding for next march and sent save the date cards last month -early but more than 75% of our guest list are out of state and will be traveling so we wanted to give them advanced notice.
Well- we recently realized that our date falls during a major tech festival in town and flights are more than double the normal price and hotels will not reserve blocks. So, we've decided to change the date by a few weeks (and venue since original venue is completely booked- goodbye deposit!)
I am hoping for advice on how to handle this. I would like to send a new save the date out asap to let people know before the start to plan their travels. Any suggestions on etiquette for this- do I simply send a new card or do we include a little note on why we've changed it? Has any one had to do something similar or were a guest to a wedding where the date changed? Any advice would be appreciated
