Change of address

weddingdiva2016, on August 23, 2016 at 12:23 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

I have received 3 complaints from ppl who recently moved who did not get an invitation. I was not informed that they moved before sending out the invites. Had anyone else had this problem? How long does it take to forward mail?

Their invites could have gotten lost in the mail. That happened with me with one of my invites. DH's aunt and uncle in FL never got theirs.

I had one invitation returned- one of FH's friends who had sent us his address, but it's apparently wrong? Who knows. And the best man has been out of state and/or moving all summer, so we hand delivered his.

We had two invitations returned--one for FH's niece who moved a year ago--he had no idea she had moved, so we had time to send her another one--and one for one of his cousins and by the time it came back, it was much too late to send out another one and he didn't know the correct address anyway. We also have one that never came back, even after we found out I sent it to the wrong address. We were able to send them a new one--he keeps in touch with this friend via email--so the friend knew we had sent them one on time.

Also, the post office will only forward mail for a few months, so if that time period is over, they won't forward it to the new address.

Hm. So if the post office doesn't forward them what happens to them?

We had some save-the-dates get lost in the mail. It was frustrating to hear, but I sent them a second one anyway. It took very little effort for me, and made the guests feel better.
