Change in Ceremony Location --Tree Draping?

Devin94, on April 28, 2016 at 9:18 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

Good Morning All! Try to bear with me...

Last night we had our planning/tasting event with the venue. I found out that our desired ceremony location is not optimal for a few reasons:

1. It is a long walk for me to get from the mansion to the actual ceremony location adjacent to the house (there is a parking lot and caretakers house in between).

2. There is no power source so the DJ would need a wireless speaker to we have to rent a generator or find some other fix

3. EVERYONE would see me walking from the house, across the parking lot...before I even get to the aisle.

4. I would probably be a sweaty mess by time I reached the aisle lol

I don't know why some of these things didn't occur to us before. I guess we were just in awe during our initial visit. For these reasons, our planner suggested that we relocate to the front of the house under this huge tree. I was pretty upset at first since I had my mind made up and heart set on the original location. (Cont)

But, her reasoning makes A LOT of sense.

With doing the ceremony on the front lawn, she suggested that the bridal party come out the front door, and I would come around the back (adding that element of surprise, and wow factor). Plus the DJ would have a power source. I looked up some ceremonies under trees, and they are beautiful...so I am definitely leaning that way.

I think if I did a ceremony under the tree...I would want it draped. STUPID QUESTION ALERT: What kind of vendor does this? I was googling all last night and came up short. Is it possible to do it ourselves? I plan to ask the DOC if this is something the venue can do, but its a pretty huge tree...so we may need to hire a professional...I just have no idea who? what? I hope this made sense.

I added a few pics of the Mansion and lawn area with the tree. Our original ceremony location in front of the small stone building....and the draping that I would like on the tree

    smile emoticon

Thanks for reading my rambling LOL

My florist is providing draping for my ceremony arch. Maybe check with your florist?

You probably already searched this but "event decorator" might be what you need.

Check with wedding rental companies. A lot of times they can do set up of what you are talking about for a extra fee. Also check with the DOC they should know someone who can do this.

If your florist only works with flowers specifically, there are vendors that specialize in draping and general decor. I used the vendor tab here to reach out to a couple of companies when I was thinking of going in this direction. It doesn't look like it from your pics, but if you're in South Florida, I can recommend a couple of people who I spoke to.

It might be more cost effective to go to a fabric store buy the fabric and drape it yourself.

Ask your DOC or Venue Coordinator. This is the kind of thing my DOC would handle. If yours won't, they should know who would be able to take care of it.

We will be having the entrance to the ceremony draped! Ask your DOC for a event rental company referral. Just be aware that it might be pricey - I think for us to use the drape (seen below) it will be almost $800

It might look fantastic without a draped tree, especially if your venue is windy or the tree is very large. We've decided not to do any draping on the tree we are getting married under for those two reasons combined.
