Change engagement ring band?

Bridget, on October 14, 2019 at 8:53 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 6
Hi everyone!

I recently got engaged in June and my FH proposed to me with this beautiful ring! He mentioned he eventually wants to upgrade the center diamond to a bigger diamond however I don’t as I think it’s perfect. The only thing I would like to change is the band itself. I was trying on wedding bands the other day and I loved how the top pave band matches my center stone. Has anyone changed their band but keep their center stone and what was your experience like? I’m debating if it’s worth it or if I should just leave it alone.

I absolutely love your ring!! I felt the same way when FH got me my ring, I thought it was too small. So I found a wedding band to enhance my engagement ring.

Thank you so much. Maybe you can find a wedding band to enhance yours as well.

Perhaps it’s the lighting in the pic, but I really don’t see enough of a difference between the two rings for it to be worth buying a whole new setting for your engagement diamond. That said, if it’s meaningful to you and you have the means, go for it.

The way your ring is designed he won’t be able to upgrade to a bigger diamond without buying a different setting. Only a diamond very close in size will fit in that space.
I agree with you that the band doesn’t match as well as the other one but you can’t really just switch out the band. You’d have to buy a new setting, take that diamond out and put it in. I don’t know your budget or the price of the band or the value of that individual diamond, so it’s hard to say what would make the most sense. But your ring is gorgeous how it is 💗 if you want to change you should probably see if he can return the setting you have now and start over. It looks like the diamond came pre-set so it probably isn’t one you’d remove and put in something else. But again I have no clue on the value on the diamond from the picture.

I think it's fine if you just changed the band! I love your diamond
